 In the 4x100m Relay, Northside dropped 2.81 seconds (51.31) from the Eric Nelson Classic with a season best time of 48.50. Northside Sophomore Keith Jones ran a 11.90 100m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Brandon Banas ran a 12.49 100m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Junior Calvin Kuhnen ran a 12.71 100m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Junior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekman anchored the Mustangs to seventh place to complete the scoring with a 11.47 100m split for an official time of 48.50.

 In the 3200m run, St. Viator Senior Nick Brey won it with an official time of 10:00.30. Oswego East Junior Ryan Fluke finished in second place with an official time of 10:09.00. Northside Junior Adrian Black finished in THIRD place with a season best time of 10:20.70. Adrian Black ran the first mile in 5:10, and then ran the final mile in an EVEN split of 5:10 for an outstanding time of 10:20.70. Adrian Black was awarded a Bronze Medal for finishing in third place overall. Northside Captain Cesar Rufino finished in fourth place to secure vital points for the Mustangs with a season best time of 10:31.90. Senior Cesar Rufino ran the first mile in 5:05, and then ran the final mile in 5:26 for an outstanding time of 10:31.90. Oswego East Bradly Thornton finished in fifth place with an official time of 10:59.80. Christian Liberty Tommy Lowery finished in sixth place with an official time of 11:10.10.

 In the Sophomore 3200m run, Northside Freshman Kyle Friedler WON it with a PERSONAL BEST time of 11:17.30. Kyle Friedler has been training with the Northside distance squad since January, and it has paid off. At the Saint Viator Invitational, Kyle Friedler ran a 1600m PR and a 3200m PR in the SAME race! Kyle Friedler ran the first mile in a personal best of 5:25, and then ran the final mile in 5:52 for an official time of 11:17.30. Friedler is only a Freshman, and his 3200m time would have also scored in the Varsity division (7th overall) as well. Kyle Friedler ran an outstanding race!

 In the 110m Hurdles, Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in fourth place to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an outstanding time of 15.70. Northside Junior Porter Abbey finished in fifth place with a PERSONAL BEST time of 17.60. Porter Abbey dropped 0.50 of  a second (18.10) from the Eric Nelson Track & Field Classic. As a Sophomore, Porter Abbey had a 110m Hurdles PR of 18.58. Abbey has smashed his personal record with a 17.60. His first two meets of the outdoor season have been outstanding!

 In the Sophomore 110m Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Justin Washington won it with a PERSONAL BEST time of 18.90. Justin Washington dropped 3.97 seconds (22.87, Freshman year) in the 110m Hurdles!

 In the Sophomore 100m Dash, Northside Freshman Josh Borgwardt finished in sixth place with a personal best time of 13.20.

 In the Sophomore 800m run, Oswego East Sophomore Tanner McQuality won it with an official time of 2:10.10. Northside Freshman Alex Ortiz finished in SECOND place with a personal best time of 2:17.30. Alex Ortiz DROPPED 3.08 seconds (20:20.38) from the Eric Nelson Classic. Alex Ortiz ran the first 400m in 66 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 71 seconds for a personal best time of 2:17.30. Ortiz 800m time would have also finished in the Top 5 in the Varsity division. IIT Perspectives Charter Freshman Phillips Alston finished in third place with an official time of 2:23.20. St. Viator Sophomore John Duffy finished in fourth place with an official time of 2:24.10. Montini Freshman Justin Stauder finished in fifth place with an official time of 2:32.70. image

 In the Varsity 800m run, Oswego East Senior Tyler McQuality won it with an official time of 2:02.50. Oswego East Senior Charles Thornton finished in second place with an official time of 2:06.20.

 Northside Sophomore Matthew Gomez finished in THIRD place with a personal best time of 2:10.80. Matthew Gomez ran the first 400m in 62 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 68 seconds for a personal best time of 2:10.80. Prior to Saturday, Matthew Gomez fastest open 800m time was a 2:11.85. Matthew Gomez was awarded a Bronze Medal for finishing in third place overall. 

 Christian Liberty Freshman Joshua Tolford finished in fourth place with an official time of 2:17.20.

 Northside Senior Nate Mendez finished in fifth place to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an outstanding time of 2:18.50. Nate Mendez ran the first 400m in 65 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 73 seconds for an official time of 2:18.50. Mendez ran in his first 800m race of the year! After Varsity Basketball season ended, there was an additional delay before he was able to join the Track Team this year. Nate Mendez has personal records of 2:16.42 in the 800m, and 4:56 in the 1600m. In his first meet, the Eric Nelson Track & Field Classic, he ran a 56.56 400m, and will be a BIG addition to the Northside Middle Distance runners.

 St. Viator Sophomore Jacon Bonanotte finished in sixth place with an official time of 2:19.60. St. Viator Senior Mitch Ryan finished in seventh place with an official time of 2:20.00. Prosser Sophomore Juan Ramirez finished in eighth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 2:21.90.

 In the 4x200m Relay, Northside was disqualified due to an exchange zone violation on the final exchange. Keith Jones ran a 26.01 200m split on the first leg of the relay. Brandon Banas ran a 24.47 200m split on the second leg of the relay. Calvin Kuhnen ran a 27.00 200m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Junior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekman ran a 26.41 200m split to anchor Northside to a 1:43.89. Northside would have scored and finished in the Top 7, if not for the disqualification.

 Prior to Saturday, Northside Junior Tom Frejowski fastest open 400m was a 52.92 (CPS Sophomore Prelims, 2013).

 In the Varsity 400m Dash, Oswego East Senior Mike Delaney won it with an official time of 50.40. Northside Captain Tom Frejowski finished in SECOND place with a PERSONAL BEST 400m dash time of 52.30. Tom Frejowski was awarded a Silver Medal for finishing in second place overall. Oswego East Senior Julian Flores finished in third place with an official time of 52.70. St. Viator Junior Brian Peters finished in fourth place with an official time of 53.10. St. Viator Junior Jake Scanlon finished in fifth place with an official time of 55.90. Montini Sophomore Brannon Sickles finished in sixth place with an official time of 57.30. Perspectives MSA Junior Brayce Hardy finished in seventh place with an official time of 58.30. Christian Liberty Joel Arrackal finished in eighth place with an official time of 59.50.

 In the Sophomore 400m Dash, Northside Freshman Josh Borgwardt finished in fourth place with an outstanding time of 61.80.

 In the Varsity 400m Hurdles, Northside Junior Porter Abbey won his heat, and finished in fourth place overall to secure vital points for the Mustangs with a SCHOOL RECORD time of 65.30. Porter Abbey will be honored with a Watermelon in practice on monday, for establishing a new school record!!

 In the Sophomore 400m Hurdles, Northside Sophomore Justin Washington finished in fifth place with a personal best time of 71.10.

 The Varsity 1600m run featured a special Field. The #1 seed, Senior Nick Brey, earned All State Honors in Cross Country, and has won multiple races in the St. Viator Invitational throughout his career. The #2 seed, Sophomore Danny Rosen, won the Indoor City Title in the 1600m run, and holds the Northside School record in the 1600m. Rosen is also ranked as the second fastest Sophomore in the State of Illinois in both the 800m and 1600m. The #3 seed, Malcolm Grba, won the Indoor City Title in the 800m, and earned All State Honors at Illinois Prep Top Times in the 800m run. In 2013, Grba also qualified for the IHSA State Track & Field Championships in a record four events, including the 800m, the 1600m, 4x800m, and 4x400m Relays. The #4 seed, Oswego East Junior Ryan Fluke, earlier in the meet, finished in the top 2 in the 3200m run. Oswego East also featured 1600m runner, Mason Miller. The Field also included St.Viator Freshman phenom Sam Brey. There was a total of 22 athletes entered in the Varsity 1600m run.
