Northside, the Indoor City Track & Field Champions, featured on upcoming broadcast of CPS Sports Edition on ME-TV
Five time Chicago Emmy Award winning Kenny McReynolds interviewed Northside Head Coach Jon Gordon, Indoor City 800m Champion Malcolm Grba, and Indoor City 1600m Champion Danny Rosen for an upcoming broadcast of CPS Sports Edition on ME-TV.
Northside All City Athletes Simon Kafka, Ari Perlmutter, and Tom Frejowski were also invited to appear on the show.
McReynolds broadcasts annually, the NCAA BIG Ten Track & Field Championships, and has appeared in the hit movie Hoop dreams, and was inducted into the Chicago Public Schools' Hall of Fame in May of 2006. McReynolds provides color commentary on all live high school sporting events broadcast on ME-TV and WCIU.
The CPS Sports Edition airs on Comcast 223, RCN 14, Dish/DirecTV 23, WOW-City 17, WOW-Suburbs-19, and AT&T-Uverse 23 on Saturdays at 7 am.
McReynolds interviewed Coach Jon Gordon, Junior Malcolm Grba, and Sophomore Danny Rosen about the Indoor City Track & Field Championships, IHSA State Championships, in-season training, nutrition, and off-season training on this outstanding episode of CPS Sports Edition.

Northside WINS 4x800m Relay! Danny Rosen and Malcolm Grba finish 1-2 in the 1600m run! Tom Frejowski finishes SECOND in the 400m! Gomez Third in 800m!
On Saturday, April 5, 2014, the Northside Varsity Men traveled to Palatine, Illinois for the St. Viator Inviational at Harper College.
The meet featured ten schools, including: Oswego East, Prosser, Guerin Prep, Perspectives Math and Science, Immaculate Conception, Northside College Prep, Calumet Perspectives Charter, Montini, Christian Liberty, and host St. Viator.
The most popular coach at the meet, was Northside Sprints Coach Wayne Edelman. Edelman coached at St. Viator prior to joining the Northside Coaching Staff in January 2014, and several reunions took place throughout the meet with former athletes, friends, and St. Viator parents.
The St. Viator Invitational was scored on the following point scale for individual events: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 and 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for Relays. Gold Medals were awarded for first place. Silver Medals were awarded for second place. Bronze Medals were awarded for third place.
Oswego East won the 2014 St. Viator Inviational. Northside finished in SECOND place with 152 points, and posted victories over: 3. St. Viator (113.50), 4. Immaculate Conception (85 points), 5. IIT Perspectives Charter (76 points), 6. Montini (53 points), 7. Prosser (44.50 points), 8. Christian Liberty (31 points), 9. Guerin (23 points), and 10. Perspectivces MSA (17 points).
Northside had a record of 8-1 on the day, and now have an outdoor season record of 14-1.
In the Pole Vault, Montini Junior Laviste Eddie won it with a vault of 10'0. Oswego East Sophomore Darata Greg finished in second place with a vault of 7'6. Northside Junior Declan Galleher and Oswego East Junior Ryan Fluke tied for THIRD PLACE with a personal best vault of 7'0. Declan Galleher was awarded a Bronze Medal for finising in third place overall. Northside Sophomore Brendan Powers made three outstanding attempts at 7'0, but was unable to clear it.
In the Shot Put, Northside Captain Ari Perlmutter finished in fourth place to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an outstanding throw of 38'04. Northside Freshman Jacob Cosby finished in eighth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 34'11.
In the Discus, Northside Senior Henry Lothschutz finished in fifth place with an outstanding throw of 96'03. Northside Sophomore Gabriel Krell threw a personal best 62'08.
In the High Jump, Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick tied Prosser Sophomore Antwon Foster for THIRD PLACE with a leap of 5'8. Lucien Fitzpatrick was awarded a Bronze Medal for finising in third place overall.
In the Long Jump, Northside Junior Porter Abbey finished in fourth place with a jump of 17'01. Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in tenth place with a jump of 14'09.75.
In the Triple Jump, Northside Senior Lucien Fitzpatrick finished in SECOND place with an outstanding jump of 39'03. Lucien Fitzpatrick was awarded a Silver Medal for finishing in second place overall. Northside Junior Matt Osborne finished in fourth place to secure vital points for the Mustangs with an outstanding jump of 37'04.
In the 100m Dash Prelims, Northside Sophomore Keith Jones ran a personal best time of 12.10. Northside Freshman Brandon Banas ran an outstanding time of 12.70.
