Simon Kafka earns All City Honors in the 800m run with a personal best 2:00.32! Tom Frejowski earns All City Honors in the 400m Dash with a 51.08!
In the 800m run, Northside Senior Simon Kafka ran the first 400m in 56 seconds, and then ran the final 400m in 64 seconds for a personal best time of 2:00.32. It was the second fastest time ever run in Northside history! Simon Kafka was also awarded a MEDAL for earning All City Honors by finishing in seventh place overall. Kafka recently ran a 52.17 400m split in the 4x400m Relay prelims, and could potentially break the school record in the 800m run at IHSA Sectionals on May 22.
In the 400m Dash, Northside Junior Tom Frejowski passed three runners in the final 100m to finish in fifth place to earn ALL CITY HONORS with a personal best time of 51.08. Tom Frejowski was awarded a MEDAL for earning All City Honors.
Danny Rosen runs the final 400m in 63 seconds to BREAK THE SCHOOL RECORD and finish in SECOND place with a personal best time of 4:25.30!!!
In the 1600m run, Lane Tech Junior Pavlo Hutsalyuk went from eighth place (2013) to first place (2014) in one year! Pavlo Hutsalyuk won the City Title in the 1600m run with an outstanding time of 4:21.42. Northside Sophomore Danny Rosen ran 400m splits of 64, 69 (2:13 800m split), 69 (3:22 1200m split), and then passed Jones College Prep Junior Kyle Maloney for SECOND place by running the final 400m in a NEGATIVE SPLIT of 63 seconds to BREAK THE SCHOOL RECORD with a personal best time of 4:25.30. Danny Rosen was awarded a MEDAL for earning All City Honors in the 1600m run. Danny Rosen will also be honored in practice and awarded a WATERMELON for breaking the school record in the 1600m run!
Jones College Prep Junior Kyle Maloney finished in third place with an official time 4:28.19. Whitney Young Senior Michael Perez finished in fourth place with a 4:32.24. Mather Senior Deivi Tahiraj finished in fifth place with an official time of 4:35.22. Lane Tech Senior Jonathan Vara finished in sixth place with a 4:35.98. Jones College Prep Junior Will Sarchet finished in seventh place with an official time of 4:37.36. Taft Junior Abraham Tobias finished in eighth place with an official time of 4:39.36. Mather Senior Zade Kurdieh finished in ninth place with an official time of 4:43.62. Kennedy Senior Bryan Quinonez finished in tenth place with an official time of 4:44.11. Steinmetz Senior Alexis Sarabia finished in eleventh place with an official time of 4:44.21. Whitney Young Freshman Keduse Worku finished in 12th place to complete the field with an official time of 5:04.96.
