At the State Finals, athletes have to check in two-three events prior to the 3200m run, and have their spikes on, and be ready to go. At the State Sectional, athletes have to check in one-two events prior to the 3200m run, and have their spikes on, and be ready to go. If athletes don't check in on time, they are disqualified.

At Evanston, the only event group on the entire Team that did not check in at the meet prior to their event was the Northside Varsity 3200m runners. When the event was called, they were not even at the Indoor Track. The Northside coaching staff was able to find their 3200m runners in the hallway, and get them to the starting line just seconds before the gun went off. As a result, Northside 3200m runners had to race with their training shoes on, instead of using spikes. Fortunately, this was an early season meet, and a good learning experience for this event group for future meets.

Northside had strong competion in the 3200m run. The Varsity 3200m run featured a great field, including 2014 IHSA State 800m Qualifier, Evanston Senior Carl Klamm.

Evanston's Lowry won it with an official time of 10:46.63. Evanston Senior Carl Klamm came from behind to finish in second place with an official time of 10:50.10. Northside Senior Adrian Black ran the first mile in 5:21, and then ran the final mile in 5:30 to finish in THIRD place with an official time of 10:51.60. Northside Junior Michael Rupprecht ran the first mile in 6:33, and then ran the final mile in 6:49 for a personal best time of 13:22.
