News and Announcements

On Friday, February 27, 2015, Northside Alumni Track & Field legend Patrick Brennan fought Alex Alcantara at the Purcell Pavilion at the University of Notre Dame for the Bengal Bouts Championship Title!

The Bengal Bouts is an annual charity boxing tournament with the mantra: "Strong Bodies Fight, that Weak Bodies May Be Nourished".

Both fighters had to win three consecutive fights during the tournament to make it to the Championship fight, including a preliminary fight, quarterfinals fight, and a semi-finals fight.

The Championship fight was broadcasted live on ESPN3. Both fighers were also featured in a nice preview documentary.

Alex Alcantara won the Championship fight over Patrick Brennan. The sportsmanship of both fighters after the fight was outstanding.

The bigger victory for both fighters was that they accomplished their mission of raising over $100,000.00 for the Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh. Alex Alcantara plans to visit the Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh during the summer.

Congratulations to Alex Alcantara and Northside Alumni legend Patrick Brennan for finishing 1st and 2nd in the Bengal Bouts boxing tournament, and for raising over $100k for charity!
