 In the Sophomore 4x160m Relay, Northside Freshman Nick Brown ran an impressive 20.11 160m split, and made a nice exchange to Carel Jones. Northside Freshman Carel Jones ran an outstanding 21.20 160m split, and made a good exchange to Mason Sotomayor. Northside Freshman Mason Sotomayor ran a 23.53 160m split, and made a perfect exchange to Josh Borgwardt. Northside Sophomore Josh Borgwardt anchored Northside to seventh place overall with a 21.93 160m split for an official time of 1:26.77.

 Glenbard East won the Sophomore 4x160m Relay with an official time of 1:20.50. Leyden and New Trier tied for second place with a 1:22.0. Schaumburg finished in fourth place with an official time of 1:22.2. Maine West finished in fifth place with an official time of 1:23.50. Deerfield finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 1:23.90.

 In the Sophomore 4x400m Relay, Northside Sophomore Josh Borgwardt ran a 400m split of 61.11 on the first leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Nick Brown ran a 400m split of 65.01 on the second leg of the relay. Northside Freshman Carel Jones ran a 64.15 400m split on the third leg of the relay.  On Friday, February 27, 2015, the Northside Varsity Mens Track and Field Team traveled to Niles West High School in Skokie, Illinois for the Niles North Vikings Relays.

 The Track was 160m, and no spikes were used in any of the events. 

 The meet featured IHSA rivals Libertyville, Notre Dame, Northside, Maine South, Niles West, New Trier, Maine West, and host Niles North.

 The meet was the most competitive meet the Mustangs attended this season, and as a result several Northside athletes ran or hurdled personal bests times in multiple events.

 Points were scored by placing as one of the top 6 individuals or Relays. MEDALS were awarded for the Top 3 places. RIBBONS were awarded for places fourth through sixth. The following point scale was used to score the meet: 10-8-6-4-2-1.

 In the Varsity Long Jump, Libertyville's Wilson won it with a jump of 21'0. Niles North's Gayle finished in second place with a jump of 20'3. Niles North's Coardos finished in third place with a jump of 20'1. Northside College Prep Senior Porter Abbey finished in fourth place with a jump of 18'6.5. Maine South's Bazerek finished in fifth place with a jump of 18'3. New Trier's Yaworsky finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 18'5. Northside Senior Matt Osborne jumped an outstanding 16'0

 In the Varsity High Jump, Notre Dame's Smith won it with a leap of 5'8. Niles North's Murray finished in second place with a jump of 5'6. Niles North's Gayle finished in third place with a jump of 5'4. New Trier's Johnson finished in fourth place with a jump of 5'4. Maine South Thomas, Notre Dame Finneke, and New Trier's Reinsdort tied for the fifth place with leaps of 5'2.

 In the Varsity Pole Vault, Maine South's Jasper won it with a vault of 12'6. New Trier's Mortion finished in second place with a vault of 12'0. Maine South's Dilter finished in third place with a vault of 11'6. New Trier's Phillips finished in fourth place with a vault of 11'0. Niles North's Aikens finished in fifth place with a vault of 10'0. Niles West Thai's finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a vault of 9'6. Northside Junior Brendan Powers vaulted a season best 8'0.

 In the Varsity Shot Put, Maine South's Jarvis won it with a throw of 49'11. Maine South's Bargo finished in second place with a throw of 48'2. Notre Dame's Cooney finished in third place with a throw of 45'9. Notre Dame's Delfosse finished in fourth place with a throw of 41'1. Maine West's Pat N finished in fifth place with a throw of 40'4. Niles North's  Tate finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a throw of 39'9. Northside Sophomore Jacob Cosby threw an outstanding 39'6. Northside Junior Simon Lothschutz threw a season best 29'11. Northside Junior Garret Barch threw a personal best 26'2. Northside Junior Matthew Gomez threw an outstanding 21'2.

 In the Varsity Triple Jump, Libertyville's Wilson won it with a jump of 43'7.5. Maine South's Jasper finished in second place with a jump of 39'5. New Trier's Yaaworsky finished in third place with a jump of 38'2. Maine South's Willis finished in fourth palce with a jump of 37'5.5. Northside Senior Porter Abbey finished in fifth place with a jump of 37'1.5. Northside Senior Matt Osborne finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with a jump of 36'6.

 In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, New Trier won it with an official time of 8:21.50. Niles North finished in second place with an official time of 8:38.10. Libertyville finished in third place with an official time of 8:50.00. Niles West finished in fourth place with an official time of 9:04.0. Maine South finished in fifth place with an officail time of 9:16.00. Northside finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 9:17.60. Max McCoy, Matthew Gomez, Troy Hu, and Tom Frejowski were awarded a RIBBON for finishing in sixth place overal.

 Northside Senior Max McCoy ran an impressive 2:14.78 800m split on the first leg of relay, and made a nice exchange to Matthew Gomez. Northside Junior Matthew Gomez ran a 2:19.52 800m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Troy Hu. Northside Junior Troy Hu ran an impressive 2:17.71 800m split on the third leg of the relay, and made an exchange to Tom Frejowski. Northside Senior Tom Frejowski ran a 2:25.79 800m split to anchor the Mustangs to sixth place with an official time of 9:17.60.

 The Niles North Viking Relays featured PRELIMS in the 55m High Hurdles, 50m Dash, and 55m Low Hurdles. The Top 4 athletes in each HEAT of the PRELIMS qualified for the FINALS.

 There was also Exhibition heats in the 55m High Hurdles, 50m Dash, 55m Low Hurdles, and the 1600m run. There was a record 80 athletes in the Exhibition 1600m run at the Niles North Viking Relays. 

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles Prelims, Northside Junior Justin Washington QUALIFIED for the FINALS by placing second in his heat with a PERSONAL BEST time of 8.50. Northside Senior Matt Osborne QUALIFIED for the FINALS by placing third in his heat with an outstanding time of 8.90.

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles Exhibitition, Northside Senior Porter Abbey hurdled a personal best time of 9.05. Northside Junior Garret Barch hurdled an official time of 9.30.

 At the De La Salle "East St. Louis Challenge" 55m High Hurdles (2/28), Northside Senior Christoper Tam dropped 0.94 of a second (11.40) for a personal best 55m High Hurdles time of 10.46.

 In the Varisty 50m Dash Prelims, Northside Sophomore Jacob Cosby ran an official time of 6.80. Northside Senior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman ran an official time of 6.84.

 In the Varsity 50m Dash Exhibitiion, Northside Senior Gus Vroustouris did not show up to the meet.

  At the De La Salle "East St. Louis Challenge" 55m Dash (2/28), Northside Senior Elijah Hernandez ran a personal best time of 7.78. Northside Senior Harry Winters ran an official time of 8.25.

 In the Varsity 55m Low Hurdles, Northside Junior Justin Washington QUALIFIED for the FINALS by placing second in his heat with a PERSONAL BEST time of 7.90. Northside Junior Garret Barch QUALIFIED for the FINALS by placing third in his heat with an outstanding time of 8.50.

 In the Varsity 55m Low Hurdles Exhibitition, Northside Senior Matt Osborne ran a season best time of 8.70.

 In the Varsity 1600m run Exhibition, Northside Junior Michael Rupprecht ran the first 800m in 2:58, and then ran the final 800m in 3:00.06 for a personal best time of 5:58.06. There was a record 80 athletes in the 1600m run Exhibition race.

  The FINALS of the Niles North Viking Relays featured 55m High Hurdles, 50m Dash, Distance Medley Reley, 4x160m Relay, Weight-man 4x160m Relay, 55m Low Hurdles, 1600m run, 200m dash, and 4x400m Relay.

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles Finals, Niles North's Mafany won it with an official time of 8.0. Niles North's Oaing finished in second place with an official time of 8.1. Maine South's Willis finished in third place with an official time of 8.5. New Trier's Ball finished in fourth place with an official time of 8.9. Northside Junior Justin Washington finished in FIFTH place with an official time of 9.0. Notre Dame's Hilger finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 9.10. Northside Senior Matt Osborne finished in seventh place with an official time of 9.15.

 In the Varsity 50m Dash Finals, Niles North's Wade won it with an official time of 6.0. Niles West's Costantino finished in second place with an official time of 6.10. Niles North's Mafany finished in third place with an official time of 6.2. Nles West's Willer finished in fourth place with an official time of 6.3. Libertyville's Katle finishewd in fifth place with an official time of 6.31. Maine South's Bazarek finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 6.4.

 The Northside School record for the Distance Medley Relay is 11.03.99 (2009).

 In the Varsity Distance Medley Relay, New Trier won it with an official time of 11:11.2. Maine South finished in second place with an official time of 11:35.80. Niles North finished in third place with an official time of 11:55.00. Niles West finished in fourth place with an official time of 12:04.5. Liberyville finished in fifth place with an official time of 12:23.80. Maine West finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 12:45.80. Northside finished in seventh place with an official time of 12:46.00.

  Northside Senior Max McCoy ran a 3:51.58 1200m split on the first leg of the Distance Medley Relay. Northside Junior Brendan Powers ran a 61.52 400m split on the second leg of the Distance Medley Relay. Northside Senior Porter Abbey ran a 2:25.70 800m split on the third leg of the Distance Medley Relay. Northside Junior Sarrin Chethik anchored the Chicago Northside Mustangs by running the first 800m in 2:40, and then running the final 800m in 2:46 for a 5:26.20 1600m split for an official time of 12:46.00.

 In the Varsity 4x160m Relay, Maine South won it with an official time of 1:18.6. New Trier finished in second place with a 1:19.9. Maine West finished in third place with an official time of 1:20.5. Libertyville finished in fourth place with an official time of 1:20.6. Niles North finished in fifth place with an official time of 1:21.0. Niles West passed Northside on the final leg of the relay to finish in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 1:22.30. Northside finished in seventh place with an official time of 1:22.36. Northside Dame finished in eighth place.

  Northside Junior Steven Kataba ran a 20.96 160m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Keith Jones. Northside Junior Keith Jones ran a 18.65 160m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Justin Washington. Northside Junior Justin Washington ran a 21.20 160m split, passing a runner, and made a nice exchange to Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman. Northside Senior Gabriel Jiminez-Ekhman anchored Northside with a 21.55 160m split for an official time of 1:22.36.

 At the De La Salle "East St. Louis Challenge" 4x160m Relay (2/28), Northside Senior Elijah Hernandez ran a 22.50 160m split on the first leg of the relay. Northside Senior Harry Winters ran a 23.70 160m split on the second leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Methew Geevarghese ran a 21.65 160m split on the third leg of the relay. Northside Sophomore Charles Jones anchored the Mustangs with a 27.72 160m split for an official time of 1:35.57.

 In the Varsity Throwers 4x160m Relay, Northside won their heat, and finished in third place overall with an outstanding time of 1:26.81. Northside Sophomore Jacob Cosby ran an impressive 20.06 160m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Simon Lothschutz. Northside Junior Simon Lothschutz ran a 24.69 160m split on the second leg of the relay, and made an exchange to Matthew Gomez. Northside Junior Matthew Gomez ran a 22.23 160m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Garret Barch. Northside Junior Garret Barch ran an impressive 19.83 160m split to anchor Northside to first place in their heat, and in third place overall with an outstanding time of 1:26.81. Jacob Cosby, Simon Lothschutz, Matthew Gomez, and Garret Barch were awarded MEDALS for finishing in THIRD place overall.

 In the Varsity 55m Low Hurdles, Niles North's Oaing won it with an official time of 7.5. Niles North's Taylor finished in second place with an official time of 8.1. Maine South's Willis finished in third place with an official time of 8.2. Northside Junior Justin Washington finished in FOURTH place with an official time of 8.3. Justin Washington was awarded a RIBBON for finishing in fourth place. Notre Dame's Hilger finished in fifth place with an official time of 8.4. New Trier's Ball finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 8.5. Northside Junior Garret Barch ran an outstanding time of 8.6.

 In the Varsity 1600m run, New Trier's Rosenkranz won it with an official time of 4:24.4. Rosenkranz tied Palatine's Graham Brown for the fastest 1600m run time in Illinois this year! The difference is Rosenkranz did it on a 160m Track, and Brown did it on a 200m Track. Maine South's Mierzwa finished in second place with an official time of 4:30.10. New Trier's Santacruz finished in third place with an official time of 4:32.20. Northside Senior Malcolm Grba finished in FOURTH place with a PERSONAL BEST time of 4:36.0. It was the fastest Northside time ever run on Niles West's 160m Track. Malcolm Grba ran the first 800m in 2:16, and then ran the final 800m in 2:20 for an official time of 4:36.0. Malcolm Grba was awarded a RIBBON for finishing in fourth place overall. Niles North's Patel finished in fifth place with an official time of 4:37.3. Niles North's Barr finished in sixth place to complete the scoring with an official time of 4:37.90. Northside Junior Danny Rosen dropped 14 seconds off his season best time (4:58) to finish in ninth place overall with an outstanding time of 4:44.3. Danny Rosen ran the first 800m in 2:20, and then ran the final 800m in 2:24 for an official time of 4:44.3.

 In the Varsity 200m Dash, Northside Junior Keith Jones tied for FIFTH place overall with an outstanding time of 25.20. Northside Junior Justin Washington ran an outstanding time of 26.80.

 In the Varsity 4x400m Relay, Northside Junior Steven Kataba ran a 58.21 400m split on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Danny Rosen. Northside Junior Danny Rosen ran a 58.23 400m split on the second leg of the relay, and made a perfect exchange to Malcolm Grba. Northside Senior Malcolm Grba ran a 57.74 400m split on the third leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Tom Frejowski. Northside Senior Tom Frejowski anchored the Mustangs with a 57.00 400m split to finish in FIFTH place overall with a 3:51.18. Steven Kataba, Danny Rosen, Malcolm Grba, and Tom Frejowski were awarded RIBBONS for finishing in sixth place overall.

 Niles North won the 9th Annual Vikings Relays. Congratulations to Coach Paul Swanson and the Niles North Vikings!  Maine South finished in second place. New Trier finished in third place. Libertyville finished in fourth place. Niles West edged Northside for fifth place with 31 points. Northside finished in sixth place with 27.50 points. Notre Dame finished in seventh place with 24 points. Maine West finished in eighth place with 23 points.
