Indians Find a Way

After many mistakes on both sides, the Indians eventually get it done on Presidents day.  Jessie King got the start on the hill for the Indians.  The home team found themselves down 5-2 in the 4th but due to fielding mistakes by the visiting Lions, the Indians rallied back to score 5 in the 5th on hits from Baxter, Talley and King.  Scott Beasley took over for King in the 5th inning stiking out 2 and getting a ground ball for a scoreless half inning. Score was 7-5 after 5.  Heritage Christian quickly evened the score up in the 6th and adding one more in the top of the 7th.  Down 8-7, Will Gowen got the indians going with a lead walk in the bottom of the 7th.  Derek King's sacrifice moved the runner into scoring position.  Scott Beasley reached base on a dropped third strike and the Indians had the potential go-ahead run on base.  Jocob Baxter was intentionally walked and Joshua Crosby came through with a huge 1 out hit to tie the game at 8.  LJ Talley came to the plate a delivered a deep fly ball to left field for the sacrifice fly.  Indians WIN!  1-0 on the season.  Indians travel to Hilliard Fl. tonight to play the Flashes in the "Border War".

Indians felt the power on Valentines Day

On a very cool night in Folkston, Kyle Walker got the Indians 2013 season started by throwing out the first and delivering a strike to Indians catcher Brad Baxter.   The Bacon County Raiders came to town for a scrimmage game against the Indians.  LJ Talley took the mound and quickly retired the side.  The offense of Charlton took a couple of inning to come alive, but when it did there was no shortage of power.  After falling behind 1-0 on a botched double play attempt, all the offense for the rest of the night would come from the Indians.  Jesse King belted a homerun to get the Indians on the board and Charlton did not look back.  In the 4th, LJ Talley and Ryan Young would hit back to back homeruns making the score 4-1.  Will Gowen had two hits, Jacob Baxer 2, Derek King 2.  Brad Baxter had a triple and several other Indians got in on the hit parade.  Jacob Popham, Richard Dasher, Scott Birchall, Hamp Huling all chipped in to help the Indians roll to a 14-1 victory.  LJ Talley gets the win on the mound!

Bacon County comes to Charlton on Valentines Day!

February 14, 2013 at 5:30 the Indians will face Bacon County to get the season started.   This is a scrimmage game for both teams so the stats or final will not count toward the regular season but both teams are gearing up for the road ahead.  Bacon is no longer a Region foe because they have moved up to Double A. These teams do have history together so tonght baseball game should be an entertaining one.  The Raiders will be a good test for the Indians!  Come on out and show your support!

Charlton Battles 7th Ranked Team in State, but Falls Short in Both Games

The Indians lost game 1 by a score of 2-1 and lost game 2 by a score of 5-2.  

Leading Hitters Game 1:

Jacob Baxter:  1 for 3 with a double and run scored

Aubrey Shivers:  1 for 3

Josh Crosby:  1 for 2

Cody Warren:  1 for 3

Game 2:

Aubrey Shivers:  1 for 3 with 1 run scored

Cody Warren:  1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Michael Taylor:  1 for 3 with a double 

Ryan Young:  1 for 3

Region 2A Awards Announced Today

Today the All-Region Awards for Region 2A were announced.  The Indians had 6 players receive an All-Region Award.  

Region 2A Co-Player of the Year:  Aubrey Shivers

Region 2A 1st Team Pitcher:  Jesse King

Region 2A 1st Team Infielder:  Jacob Baxter

Region 2A 2nd Team Infielder:  Cody Warren

Region 2A Honorable Mention Catcher:  Drew Gowen

Region 2A Honorable Mention Player:  Chris Smith

Congratulations to these young men on a great season!  Well Done! 

The awards will be presented at the Spring Sports Awards Presentation at a date to be announced later.
