Charlton County Baseball

Jacob Baxter was a homerun short of hitting for the cycle on Friday night as the Indians pound out 11 hits at home vs the Turner County Rebels.  Baxter, Crosby, Young, all have multiple hits as the Indians score 14 runs.  LJ Talley chipped in with two RBI's on the night.  Jesse King also drove in his 22nd run of the season.  Scott Beasley was on the mound for the Indians and was too much for the Rebel batters.  He also had a double and an RBI.  Final score 14-3, Indians roll!  Charlton is now 8-0 in Region play and 15-1 overall.  

Clinch County was fired up to welcome the Indians to town on Tuesday.  Pitching was the story of the night for these two clubs.  The left hander for Clinch appeared dominate at times, but just as Charlton has done many times this year, they found a way to get the job done.  The Indians were down early 3-0.  Charlton moved closer after Scott Birchall doubled the later scored.  The indians tied it up 3-3 in the 5th and it would stay that way until the 7th.  A lead off walk to Jacob Baxter would prove costly to the the Panthers.  LJ Talley scorched a triple off of the right center field fence to score Baxter from first and the Indians were ahead for good.  Talley was brilliant in relief pitching 4 1/3 innings, giving up just one hit and no earned runs.   The Indians give Clinch their first Region loss.  Charlton moves to 6-0 in the region and 14-1 overall.  

Charlton jumped out to a 1-0 lead early on a double by Ryan Young that scored Jacob Baxter in the bottom of the first.  Wilcox actuallly pushed ahead in the third 3-1.  The Indians responded quickly putting up 4 runs in the bottom half and never looking back.  Jacob Baxter was hot at the plate driving in 3 RBI's, with a blast to left center field.  Jesse King had a grand slam, and Ryan Young had a homerun as well.  Indians run away with it by a score of 15-4.  Jesse King gets the win on the mound striking out 8 in 5 innings of work.  Charlton stays undefeated in Region play.  

Lanier County came to Folkston looking to hand the Indians their first region loss of the 2013 season.  With a 4-2 lead in the 3rd inning, Lanier was in good position to do just that.   Charlton's relentless offense would not allow it.  14 hits and 13 runs later, the Indians sealed it up in 6 innings by a score of 15-5.  Jesse King led the way with 2 hits and 3 RBI, while Jacob Baxter continues to deliver blasts in the gaps, he had two more doubles tonight.  Ryan Young, also tonights winning pitcher was 3 for 4 with and RBI as well.  Indians move to 5-0 in Region Play and 12-1 overall.

The Indians travelled to Statenville to face Echols County on Friday and wasted no time putting runs on the board.  Jacob Baxter started the game off with a double and was quicly driven in by a double off the bat of LJ Talley.  Baxter would end the day 4 for 4 with three doubles and a single.  Talley would later blast a two run homerun to right field.   Talley was not the only Indian doing yard work!  Hamp Huling, pinch hitting in the 4th would blast a towering shot to left center field.  Jesse King got the start on the mound for Charlton and would only allow 1 run in 4 innings of work.  The game ended after the 4th due to the mercy rule.  Final score 18-1.  The Indians move to 11-1 on the season and 4-0 in region play.
