Posted by Vince Carter at Apr 15, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Demons Blue and Gold team both advanced out of pool play in Algonquin on Saturday. The Gold team went 2-2 in pool play while the Blue team went 3-0. The tournament of 55 teams ended with the Gold team losing to Meanstreets in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue team beat a good Team Supreme by one point in a thrilling game but did not have enough to hold off a good IL Heat team in the round of 16. Congratulations to Coach Locke and the Gold Team. Congratulations to Coach Williams and Stephens and the Blue Team.

6th Grade Team Keeps Going Strong.

Posted by Vince Carter at Nov 13, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The 6th grade Demons beat Western Springs by 1 in the Clyde Park Tournament this past weekend! What made the win special was the fact that the game was started with 4 Demon players (Jalen, Erick, Jibreel & Kevin). The Demons dominated Western Springs the entire game. But, with 9 minutes to go in the game, Jibreel suffered an asthma attack and had to be benched. Western Springs seized the opportunity and tied the game up to send it into a 2:00 minute overtime. The Demons were exhausted, devastated and had very little left to give in regulation, let alone overtime. With 1:30 left in overtime Jibreel, having received his inhaler and unable to breathe re-enters the game (against his mothers wishes) indicating that his team needed him. Down by 1, Coach Rodgers called a timeout for the last play of the game that led to a put-back by Jalen, giving the Demons the win, but more importantly, displaying an outstanding example of "pulling together as a team" ! ! !
