March 30th--Falcons Edge A Tough Skyline Team
Skyline's crafty junkballer kept the Falcons off balance most of the evening, but some timely hitting and tough pitching in the clutch gave us a 4-3 win.
The Falcons picked up one run in the first inning with a double by Maggie and an RBI single by Katie. We added another in the second when Kaaren singled and was knocked in by Jennell. In the fifth we added two more when Shelby singled, Maggie walked and Cat reached on an error. With the bases loaded Katie drew a walk to push in one run, then Lindsay hit a long sacrifice fly to score another.
Things got tense in the sixth with a two-run bloop single by Skyline brought them within one run. After a stolen base put the tying run on second base, Maria got a soft pop up to second to end the inning.
Kaaren and Maria had another solid "split" game, striking out 12 between them.
March 27--Tough Game Against Juanita Give the Falcons Their First Loss
One pitch and a short fence was the difference as Juanita handed the Falcons their first loss of the season, 5-4.
Kaaren got the Falcons off to a great start with a cannon-shot 3-run homer in the first inning. But in the bottom of the first, with two outs and the bases loaded, Juanita's batter hit a high fly ball that landed about 190 feet from home plate. Unfortunately for the Falcons, the right field fence at Juanita is 185 feet. Thus what was likely a long third out on any other field in Kingco became a grand slam for Juanita. The Falcons were able to tie the game late, but in the bottom of six Juanita pushed across the game winner to hand us our first loss of the season.
April 15th---Falcons Back On Track With Win Over Ballard
The Falcons "got well" from the Bothell loss with a 17-0 win over Ballard.
Maggie, Kaaren and Lindsay each had three hits. Lindsay drove in four runs, Kaaren drove in three, and Maggie drove in two.
Kaaren pitched the complete game, striking out 7 in 5 innings.
April 24th--Falcons Lose 1-0 to Issaquah
Two of Kingco's best pitchers locked up in a 10-inning pitching duel that finally ended when Issaquah scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Issaquah's McKenzie Voves held the formidable Falcon lineup to 5 hits in 10 innings, while Kaaren gave up only four hits.
Zoe crushed a double to the fence in the first inning, and Maggie, Cat, Katie and Kaaren each had singles at various points, but the Falcons couldn't string anything together.
Both teams battled and made some great defensive plays.
May 1st---Falcons Beat Eastlake 7-1
The Falcons remained in first place in the Kingco Crown Division with a solid 7-1 win over Eastlake.
Kaaren had another huge night at the plate with two singles and a homer, good for four RBI.
Maggie went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored and Lindsay had a double and triple, a run scored and an RBI. Shelby added a single and a double and scored twice.
Maria pitched a dominating game but it remained close until the sixth inning, when Shelby doubled, Maggie doubled, Lindsay tripled and Kaaren homered to put things well out of reach.
