Untouchables Defeat Invaders 14-6

The Untouchables of Gary, Indiana edged the Invaders 14-6.  The Invaders lone score came on a 1-yard run by QB Michael Hawkins.  The Invaders had a chance to tie the score with no time remaining on the clock, but were denied at the goal line.  This loss eliminated the Invaders from the tournament.  Even though the Invaders only had ten players, they fought hard, competed and in both of their losses had chances to win.  This tournament will serve as valuable experience to make the team better in the future.
The Invaders, traveling with only 10 players, opened the 2007 USFTL Nationals with a victory over the Desperados of Tampa, Florida.  The Invaders received the ball first and never looked back.  On the first play of the opening drive, QB Michael Hawkins hit WR Taurus McGhee with a 40 yard pass inside the Desperados 20 yard line.  Hawkins ended the drive with a touchdown pass to McGhee.  On the PAT, QB Jerome Pearson hit BB Cortes Brooks with a 3 yard pass to give the Invaders an 7-0 lead.  On the Desperados first possession, Invaders' CB Jonas (PeeWee) Williams picked off their first pass attempt and ran it back for a touchdown to increase the Invaders lead to 14-0.  PeeWee followed up with a touchdown reception on a pass from Pearson to lead the Invaders to a 27-6 rout of the Desperados.

Dogs Defeat Invaders 20-2

Posted by Larry Mills at Jan 17, 2008 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The number 3 seeded Dogs defeated the Invaders 20-2 in a tough battle that wasn't indicative of the score.  The Dogs won with defense and physicalness, smothering the Invaders' offense.  The Invaders missed on several early opportunities to score, while the Dogs continued to execute and put points on the board.  The Invaders only points came on safety when the Dogs had a bad snap in their end zone.  The Invaders lack of depth showed in this contest against a very good and physical team.  The Dogs went on to win the tournament and their defense only gave up 6 points.  Congratulations to the Dogs!
