Pep Band

Posted by Colin Woelfle at Nov 29, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The Armstrong Band Department plays at 3 regular season home games for each of the following winter sports: Girls Hockey, Boys Hockey, Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball.  The entire band department is divided into 3 different Pep Bands - Pep Band A, B, and C.  Each Pep Band has students from Freshman Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble.  A schedule is then established, assigning each Pep Band to 4 different home games.  Students are required to play at a minimum of 4 pep band games.  These pep band games are considered performances and are a part of each student's grade.  At each game, a sign-in sheet gets passed around and everyone in attendance should sign in for credit.  Extra credit and lettering points will be given to students who perform at more than the required 4 games.  If there is a scheduling conflict, the student should see his or her director and make-up that absence at another game.  Pep Band music is handed out to each student (except percussion) in an envelope after the winter concerts.  The music is then rehearsed during class in December and January.  Each student is responisble for turning in their folder at the end of the pep band season, or a $5 fee will be assessed.

Schedules are handed out in class, posted in the band room, and are also availeble on our Pep Band Schedules Page.  Pep Band games are also on our Calendar Page.

You can check to see which Pep Band you or your student is and also check attendance by visiting our Handouts Page.

If our teams go to post season play, we will perform at their games as scheduling allows.  If our teams make it to the State Tournament and games occur during the school day, every student in the band department is encouraged to attend, but in order to do so, each student needs to have played at their required 4 games.

Concert Band Tour

Posted by Colin Woelfle at Oct 10, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Concert Band and Jazz II had a great time at the Unniversity of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and at the Kalahari resort in Wisconsin Dells on March 13th and 14th. Both bands played well and had a great clinic with Dr. Phil Ostrander. Thanks to the Unniversity of Wiscosin-Eau Claire and our parent chaperones for making this trip possible.
