MONTROSE ROSELEA v BANKS O DEE

GA CUP SEMI FINAL

SAT MAY 11th 2013

Roselea took a break from the rigours of the Mcbookie.com North Division to face Aberdeen Superleague side Banks o Dee in the Semi Finals of the GA Cup. After being on the road to Portgordon and Stonehaven in the previous rounds, home advantage made Roselea favourites to go through against the side sitting fourth in the North Superleague. There was a healthy support in the ground for the game and Roselea had ex Banks o Dee player Billy Pirie in attendance as a guest of the club.

The only absentee for the home side was club captain Paul Whyte who was on holiday.

Roselea: Mcleod, P Taylor, R Taylor, Reoch, Graham, Anderson, Rae, Collier, Cruickshank, Watson & Reid. Subs: Watt, Beedie, Riach, Ross & Craig

Roselea had the first opening in 5 minutes when a perfectly weighted chipped ball was chested down by Watson into the box but the alert Stark in the Dee goal came out and blocked with a 50/50 tackle. After treatment the goalkeeper managed to continue.

With ten minutes gone in what was an even opening spell Banks o Dee were looking at the diagonal ball to try and unlock the home defence. They also had an advantage with the Broomfield wind starting to gather pace.

Roselea press again in 11 minutes with Cruickshanks cross coming back out and Collier picks the ball up and goes on a strong only to be foiled by a good tackle from Allan.

In 15 minutes Banks o Dee keeper Stark was almost caught out by a Reid cross which almost sneaked into the top corner but he managed to palm the ball out to safety.

In 19 minutes Banks o Dee forced a couple of corners and after a scramble Cameron scooped the ball over the top.

In 21 minutes Dee were forced to make a change when goalkeeper Stark was replaced by Johnston after he failed to recover from his earlier clash with Calum Watson.

Banks o Dee had the best chance so far in 27 minutes when a through ball found Jack and left him free on Mcleod however the home keeper stood his ground and when the ball broke to McCall, Jordan Reoch managed to get back and put in a fine tackle to keep the score level.

Ritchie sent in a dangerous free kick for the visitors which Graham left not realising that there was danger behind him but Mcleod came out to take the ball.

Banks o Dee were holding the upperhand at this stage and after McCall held the ball up Rintoul went past him on the left and his shot from a narrow angle went inches wide.

Watson went close for Roselea in 41 minutes when he had a shot blocked from a Cruickshank cross at the far post.

Roselea have a massive let off just on the stroke of half time when a ball bounced over the home defence allowing Jack to be through on Mcleod however his first touch was not the best and the home keeper stood his ground before bringing off a great save.

Half Time Montrose Roselea 0 Banks o Dee 0

In 52 minutes a great clipped ball down the line by Paul Taylor found Watson in space on the right hand side and his cross was narrowly missed by Ryan Taylor with a Roselea appeal for a hand ball.

Four minutes later another Watson cross was narrowly missed by Reid and Allan cleared with his head.

Rae then had a great chance for Roselea in 62 minutes but his decision to cross was wrong and should have probably shot himself.

Roselea took the lead in 68 minutes when Collier won a corner after appearing to be held back by a defender in the box before winning a corner. Cruickshank sent in the corner and it was James COLLIER who got his head to the ball from close range to open the scoring.

Roselea doubled their lead 2 minutes later when a great curling free kick from Crucikshank was headed home by Calum WATSON.

Roselea appeared to be on easy street but that all changed in 76 minutes when Liversenge was brought down in the box by Reoch. After Reoch was booked SCAIFE sent an unstoppable penalty kick past Mcleod into the net.

In 77 minutes Roselea replaced Cruickshank with Danny Ross coming on.

In 80 minutes Jordan Reoch intercepted the ball just inside the opponents half and went on a strong run and just as he was about to shoot he was brought down however he was booked for a theatrical dive and as it was a second booking he had to leave the field.

With Banks o Dee hunting for an equaliser Reid was put through and after cutting inside defender Cameron put in a great tackle to keep them in the game.

In 88 minutes Watson then found himself clean through however Johnston in the Banks o Dee goal stuck out a leg to prevent him scoring.

There was a scare for Roselea in 89 minutes when Long got his head to a free kick but his looping header was wide of the target.

Right on time Roselea made it 3-1 when Danny ROSS finished well from 16 yards into the corner of the net.

Full Time: Montrose Roselea 3 Banks o Dee 1

Although this was a deserved win for Roselea it was hard fought and had to be worked for. The team will now have the bonus of a final which will be played at Whitton Park, Broughty Athletic’s ground on May 25th. The opponents will be the winner of the North End v Jeanfield tie. There will be a bus running from the Golf Inn please contact Kevin Young on 01674 672047 for details. Man of the Match for Roselea was goalkeeper Ross Mcleod who was the quieter of the keepers but did all that was asked of him. Billy Pirie presented his award to him on behalf of Sponsors MGFA.

Whilst Roselea were busy reaching the final of the Cup Kirrie Thistle were in league action and toppled Roselea from top spot. This Saturday Roselea get a chance to go back to the top when Kirrie Thistle are visitors to Broomfield Park in what could be a league decider. The match Kicks off at 2.30pm

ROSELEA KEEP ON TRACK WITH TIGHT OGILVY PARK WIN

Posted by Roy Gill at May 3, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

ARBROATH VICS v MONTROSE ROSELEA

McBOOKIE.COM NORTH DIVISION

SAT MAY 4th 2013

Roselea travelled to old foes Arbroath Vics in search of 3 vital points to maintain their Title challenge. Fresh from the previous weeks victory at Stonehaven in the GA Cup the squad was boosted by the return of Calum Rae and Danny Ross. There was also a surprise addition with Ewan Graham agreeing to return for the final games of the season. North Ends match with East Craigie was postponed so it gave Roselea a massive incentive to get points on the board and put pressure on their challengers.

Ogilvy Park was as per usual looking magnificent for the time of the year with their President Russell Ruxton taking great pride in his surface. Roselea had won the opposite league fixture at Broomfield Park in March however Vics beat the visitors 2-1 in the League Cup fixture at todays venue.

Roselea: Mcleod, P Taylor, R Taylor, Whyte, Reoch, Anderson, Collier, Rae, Cruickshank, Watson & Reid. Subs: Ross, Riach, Beedie, Watt & Graham.

In an even opening Roselea who faced an increasing wind forced Vics back with a corner which they dealt with then Warren went on a mazy run but his end effort was low and weak so Mcleod was not troubled.

In six minutes Vics forced the first of several corners they would have in the first half but Whyte did well to clear.

Roselea thought they had opened the scoring in 8 minutes when Watson struck a great shot after coming in from the right but the ball struck the base of the post before coming out to safety. It was only a momentarily let off for the home side though as two minutes later Calum WATSON cut in and this time with a left foot shot guided the ball into the corner of the net to open the scoring.

This spurred Roselea into further action with Anderson getting on the end of a Cruickshank ball with his head but the wind playing a major factor in his weak attempt.

Anderson then turned provider when his cross was narrowly missed by Dale Reid as Roselea took the game to the Vics.

Vics had their first real chance in 20 minutes when Durno and Collier collided with referee Roncone deciding in the favour of the home side. Warren took a dangerous free kick which went around the wall and although Mcleod took two attempts to save he did a great job considering the force of the shot.

Vics were getting a foothold in the game and from one of the aforementioned corners they almost caught Mcleod out but he had claimed a push before knocking the ball out for another corner which when it came in there was a foul awarded for a challenge on the keeper.

On the half hour Vics had a great chance to equalise when Chris Simpson did what he used to do for Roselea so well and bustled the ball beyond Whyte before Mcleod saved well from his well struck effort.

In 40 minutes Vics had another chance as they started to take the upperhand in the midfield. A Warren cross was beaten out by Mcleod and Fotheringham blasted the ball against the underside of the bar before Reoch bravely cleared with his head.

There was another scramble in the Roselea box when a corner found Warren at the far post and his chip back in was eventually cleared by Rae.

Roselea were the happier side to hear the half time whistle but had defended well against a very tough wind.

Half Time: Arbroath Vics 0 Montrose Roselea 1

With 5 minutes of the second half gone Vics were on level terms. Stephen broke down the right and crossed into the Roselea box, MOWATT was allowed too much space in the area and headed home well from 12 yards out.

Roselea then had a chance to test Vics resolve against the wind from a corner and Collier couldn’t manage to get a shot away from a very tight angle before Vics cleared in 52 minutes.

Roselea had a great shooting opportunity in 55 minutes when Durno brought down Collier in a reversal of the first half incident. From a similar position Cruickshank hit a swerving shot around the wall and Hutchison had to be alert to beat the ball behind for a corner. The corner was taken short to Paul Taylor and clipped an excellent ball across the Vics goalmouth with no Roselea players on hand to finish.

In 60 minutes Roselea had a penalty claim in what was a major talking point of the game. Cruickshank picked the ball up in the area and played the ball past a lunging Vics player and went down. Referee Roncone paused for a second but played on. There was a second claim for Roselea two minutes later when Sturrock looking to have controlled a ball in the box with his hand however the match official was in no mood to see a 12 yard strike.

Roselea made two changes between the hour mark and 70 minutes as Graham came on for Cruickshank then Ross came back into the fold for Reid.

Collier put Vics keeper Hutchison under pressure from a Paul Taylor cross forcing a spill but could not get his foot to the loose ball to finish.

In 71 minutes Roselea went back in front after a long spell of pressure. A corner was cleared only as far as Anderson who hot a rasping half volley from 20 yards and COLLIER was in the right place to deflect the off target shot into the net and send the travelling Roselea support wild with delight.

Graham had a free kick palmed over the top by Hutchison in 76 minutes as Roselea searched for the vital third goal to secure the points.

In 78 minutes a whipped corner kick from Rae was flicked by the head of Reoch and looked net bound but slipped just wide.

Roselea looked to have secured the three points in 81 minutes with a superb goal by Calum WATSON. He picked the ball up 35 yards out and showed great strength before cutting inside and sending a great 25 yard shot low into Hutchison’s right hand corner.

There was one last chance for Roselea right on time when Collier spun in the box after Graham had driven a free kick into the wall however his shot was over the top.

Referee Mike Roncone called time and Roselea secured another valuable three points in their quest for the Title.

Full Time: Arbroath Vics 1 Montrose Roselea 3

This was a very hard three points to win and for a long time at 1-1 the game was in the balance. Roselea certainly had the upperhand in chances with the non penalty decision potentially being a pivotal point in proceedings. Calum Watson deserves special mention for an excellent display and also captain Paul Whyte who played just hours before departing for a Florida holiday.

The win sends Roselea back to the top of the table on goal difference with East Craigie being idle. Kirrie Thistle sit 1 point behind with a game in hand and North End five points back also with a game in hand. With two home matches remaining against Kirrie Thistle and Forfar Albion, Roselea know that two wins will secure the Title however anything less than maximum points does not even guarantee promotion!

Roselea take a break from League action this week and have a great opportunity to reach the GA Cup Final when Banks o Dee arrive for the Semi Final at Broomfield this Saturday. Roselea last reached the final of the competition in 2008 and will look to put home advantage to use. The match kicks off at 2.30pm.

STONEHAVEN v MONTROSE ROSELEA
GA CUP ¼ FINAL

SAT APRIL 27th 2013

Roselea travelled to their closest North Region neighbours Stonehaven in the quarter finals of the GA Cup full of optimism after being on a ten match unbeaten run which has seen them claw their way right back into the promotion race. A welcome break from the rigours of the McBookie.com North Division challenge this was the first competitive match between the sides since the same competition was named the Zamoyski Cup in 1989. The sides also met in the ¼ final that day with Stonehaven recording a 2-0 victory. Over the last few years the clubs have played many friendly matches at Broomfield Park with honours shared overall.

Despite the day off from the League there had been and would be some important games to look at. Kirrie Thistle came from 2 goals behind in 20 minutes to beat Forfar West End 3-2 in a pulsating game in midweek and all the Title challengers minus Dundee North End who were also on GA Cup duty up at Banff versus Deveronside.

Roselea had two selection problems with Calum Rae enjoying the charms of a Stag party in Prague rather than the delights of Glenury Park in Stonehaven and Danny Ross who was ill.

Roselea: Mcleod, P Taylor, R Taylor, Reoch, Whyte, Riach, Anderson, Collier, Cruickshank, Watson & Reid. Subs: Watt, Beedie, Brand & Craig.

On a great spring afternoon for football Roselea lined up against one of the best teams in the North Region although due to lack of games Stonehaven languished in the lower reaches of the North Superleague.

Roselea were on  top early on with Michael Cruickshank seeing some action on the left hand side with the visitors showing they wanted to attack.

In an even opening ten minutes Roselea had the first real chance when Calum Watson swivelled in the box but could not get enough power to threaten Smith in the Stonehaven goal.

Once again Roselea attack with Cruickshank looking menacing on the left side, he middles and Watson has his shot saved by Michael Smith who is the son of Roselea goalkeeping legend Trevor Smith.

Horne was the predicted danger man for the Hive and he had a turn and shot on 19 minutes but was off target.

Roselea had a double chance on 22 minutes when Reid had a shot blocked by the big Stonehaven keeper then Watson had his follow up effort also blocked.

In 25 minutes Horne had another shot from the edge of the box but Mcleod was equal to the task and saved well.

In 28 minutes Reoch of the visitors was booked for a dive in the penalty area although he was convinced he had been taken down.

On the half hour mark Horne had a free kick chance 25 yards out be he only managed to find the Roselea wall which stood firm and the ball was cleared away.

The half was played out with no further goalmouth chances on what was as expected at this time of year a dry and bumpy pitch.

Half Time: Stonehaven 0 Roselea 0

Roselea wasted no time in the second half by scoring just three minutes in. A short pass back allowed Calum WATSON in and he rounded the keeper before slotting home.

The home side were level just two minutes later when an HORNE shot was deflected by Paul Taylor and into the net.

Stonehaven had the next chance in 55 minutes when Horne latched on to a cross ball and he fired the ball across the Roselea goalmouth with no colleagues on hand to finish.

Roselea regained the lead in 57 minutes. A Cruickshank corner was missed by keeper Smith and Calum WATSON had the easiest of headers at the far post to score his second of the afternoon.

Michael Cruickshank received a ball on the left hand side and beat his man before sending in a low dangerous cross which Smith did well to beat away from danger.

It was al square again in 65 minutes when ALEXANDER got his head to a great through ball and over Mcleod into the Roselea net as the tie heated up.

There were chances at both ends in 70 minutes. First danger man Horne had a shot saved by Mcleod who then cleared to Reid at the other end and he headed narrowly over.

Roselea had a couple of chances in 75 and 76 minutes when Ryan Taylor had a shot from distance then Smith had to save well from Reid as Roselea tried to get their noses back in front.

Collier went close for Roselea in 85 minutes after he shot from a Cruickshank cross went just wide of the post.

Roselea grabbed a dramatic winner in 87 minutes just as it looked if penalties would decide the tie. Jordan REOCH latched onto the loose ball in the box and drove the ball home from 12 yards much to the delight of this team mates and the travelling support.

There was still time for another chance which Riach could not convert but the result was secured as the referee blew for full time.

Final Score: Stonehaven 2 Montrose Roselea 3

A tough match was expected against one of the strongest sides in the North Juniors and it was a close call although the visitors did control the match for long periods. This takes them into the Semi Final and will face either Banks o Dee or Stoneywood at home. That Quarter Final tie takes place on Weds May 1st.  North End also won at Devronside and will face either Carnoustie or Jeanfield Swifts in the other Semi Final.

It is back to League business this Saturday with a trip to Arbroath Vics on the cards. The match at Ogilvy Park kicks off at 2.30pm. East Craigie won at Lochee Harp so they now top the Division but Roselea still have a game in hand. Saturday could go a long way to them securing promotion but as always Arbroath Vics will be a tough test. East Craigie face Dundee North End so something will give there to benefit Roselea.

ROSELEA MAKE IT 10 AT DOWNFIELD

Posted by Roy Gill at Apr 19, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

DOWNFIELD v MONTROSE ROSELEA

McBOOKIE.COM NORTH DIVISION

SAT APRIL 20TH 2013

Roselea travelled to Downfield Park to face the Spiders who were the last team to beat them in the League some nine games back in December. That match hurt as the winner came right at the end and just minutes after Paul Whyte had a perfectly good goal chopped off in controversial circumstances. Roselea were sitting top but with co leaders East Craigie expected to win at Forfar Albion and all other chasers expecting to win the pressure was on to get a result. To add to the tension Downfield really needed a win to keep their own chances alive as they were 6 points behind with only four games to play.

Roselea made one change with the returning Watson taking his place ahead of Michael Cruickshank who dropped down to the bench with Collier slotting back into midfield.

Downfield Park was looking good considering a charity match had taken place the previous Sunday in a mudbath but their Groundsman had done some excellent work by rolling it to get it back in good condition for the match.

Roselea: Mcleod, P Taylor, R Taylor, Reoch, Whyte, Ross, Rae, Collier, Anderson, Watson & Reid. Subs: Watt, Beedie & Riach.

Roselea should have taken the lead in just two minutes when Reid narrowly headed an Anderson cross just wide of the post.

The visitors did open the scoring just two minutes later with a well taken goal. Ryan Taylor swung in a great free kick from 30 yards and Paul Whyte headed back across goal in customary style and James COLLIER flicked the ball over the head of home keeper Gary Thain.

Roselea continued to dominate and Thain had to save with his feet when Watson burrowed along the bye-line before shooting low at the near post in 10 minutes. Anderson then had a snap shot from around 30 yards and although well hit it didn’t threaten Thain as it flashed past the post.

Watson then found himself on the bye line again in 14 minutes and when his cutback was intercepted Roselea claimed the ball was passed back to Thain however the referee indicated it was accidental.

Reid was next to threaten for Roselea in 18 minutes and as he rounded the keeper he seemed to be brought down but managed to stay on his feet but could not beat the defender on the line from a tight angle.

James Collier was fortunate not to receive a yellow card for an over the top tackle on 21 minutes and escaped with a warning from referee Maskell.

It was all Roselea who were playing with the wind at their backs and after Collier shielded the ball from a throw in Reid cut the ball back with Watson just failing to get to the ball before Cameron cleared for a corner. Watson caught Cameron however the referee did not spot it and Cameron took no further part in the game after limping off.

Roselea had a let off when referee Maskell did not award a penalty for what looked like a clear trip on Scott by Whyte on the half hour mark.

A minute later it was Roselea’s turn for a penalty appeal when Rae skipped past a couple of players before being brought down however no decision was given.

Downfield created their best two chances of the half in 38 minutes. First Mcleod spilled a cross and Scott blasted the ball against the visiting keeper then Hagan scooped over from close range following a corner.

Downfield broke from a corner and Hagan should have done better when Mcleod who had raced from his goal was caught in no mans land however he elected to square to Payne and Anderson worked well to get back and intercepted.

Half Time: Downfield 0 Roselea 1

Roselea opened the second half looking for the valuable second goal they would possibly need to consolidate the game. Reid was brought down 25 yards out and took the kick himself and although he struck his shot well he found the back of a Downfield defender who cleared.

Neither side created much at the start of the second period with only a deflected shot from Reid and a long range Payne effort from both sides counting as opportunities.

In 55 minutes the ball broke to Calum Watson in the box after Paul Taylor had sent it back in and he found himself in on goal however Thain pulled off a great save to turn the ball behind for a corner.

Deuchars of Downfield received a booking for a late tackle on Reid who had pushed the ball past him down the line in 61 minutes. Watson then had a shot blocked by the hands of Thain as Roselea searched for the second goal to give themselves some breathing space.

Downfield had another penalty claim turned down in 66 minutes when Payne rounded Mcleod and claimed to have been brought down.

In 75 minutes Deuchars of Downfield received a second yellow card for an off the ball incident and was first to test the showers.

The game was getting a bit tetchy and Reoch and Hagan were shown yellow cards in 83 minutes with Hagan being the perpetrator after the ball had been cleared. Much to Roselea’s annoyance the game was restarted with a drop ball inside the Roselea box and after Anderson cleared Bremner struck a great shot from 25 yards out and the ball struck the base of the post before being cleared to safety.

Reid was harshly given offside as he raced in on goal with only his pace costing him by making him look like he was offside.

The ten men of Downfield battled away in search of a point and they had two near things at the death as the ball fizzed across the Roselea box with no takers.

Final Score: Downfield 0 Montrose Roselea 1

A tight match was predicted and that was what it turned out to be however if Roselea had taken their chances it could have been secured by half time. It was a very disciplined performance from the team and it takes their unbeaten run to ten games.

With all the other promotion hopefuls who were in action winning their games this was a massive result. With three games remaining the fate of the team is very much in their own hands however there will be difficult games at Arbroath Vics and at home to Kirrie Thistle and Forfar Albion.

This Saturday Roselea travel to Glenury Park Stonehaven for a GA Cup quarter final tie which kicks off at 2.30pm. This will be a welcome break from League duty and a chance to progress in the cup they won in 2007.

FORFAR ALBION v MONTROSE ROSELEA

McBOOKIE.COM  NORTH DIVISION
SAT APRIL 13
th 2013

Roselea travelled to Guthrie Park, Forfar to face Forfar Albion looking to keep their good run of eight games unbeaten going and maintain their challenge for the Title. The only absentee was Calum Watson who was unavailable and Michael Cruickshank made a return to the starting line up with James Collier switching to a striker role. Albion have had very little action recently due the weather and looking at the league table three points should have been very much on the cards. The Albion pitch was showing the wear of the winter weather but had a bit of give which made it better.

Roselea: Mcleod, P Taylor, R Taylor, Reoch, Whyte, Ross, Anderson, Rae, Cruickshank, Collier & Reid. Subs: Riach, Watt, Beedie, Brand & Craig.

Roselea made the perfect start to the game with a goal inside two minutes. Anderson did well to force a corner with the odds stacked against him and when Cruickshank sent in a dangerous corner REID was the last to touch the ball in the scramble.

Roselea looked like they had doubled their lead when Cruickshanks dipping cross looked to have deceived Easton but he did enough to tip over the bar. Seconds later Whyte had a close range shot miraculously saved from close range by Easton.

Roselea were piling on the pressure in the early stages and they had a claim for a hand ball when Collier headed a ball back across goal then Whyte went on a run only for a great block from an Albion defender inside the box prevented him getting a shot away.

Albion had their first break in 12 mins when their right back picked up a loose ball and advanced before hitting a 25 yard shot over the bar.

Roselea took some time to penetrate the Albion defence again and in 22 minutes as Collier held the ball in before Rae shot over then Ross turned nicely in the box and fired in a low cross which was dealt with by the Albion defence.

In 23 minutes Roselea did eventually increase their tally with a well taken goal by Craig ANDERSON. Roselea broke down the left and Cruickshank sent in a deep cross which Anderson let bounce once before sending in an unstoppable volley in to the corner of the net leaving Easton with no chance.

A minute later Reid headed narrowly wide from a Ryan Taylor cross as Roselea continued the bombardment. Albion then had a similar penalty claim but was also met by deaf ears from the referee Mr Mcillvenny.

Roselea made the three points an almost formality with a third goal in 35 minutes. Ryan Taylor’s diagonal ball was headed square by Whyte and REID had a great side on volley as he smashed the ball into the net from 8 yards out.

In 38 minutes rampant Roselea almost added to their tally when Ross cleverly cut the ball back to the arriving Rae and his shot struck the base of the post before rebounding to safety.

In 41 minutes another great finish from Danny ROSS made it 4-0. He took his time and struck a great left footed shot into the corner of the net as it went in off the post.

Albion had a chance just on half time when they caught Roselea napping. A great reverse pass found McDonald however Anderson had worked back and somehow managed to get a tackle in to prevent a certain goal.

Half Time: Albion 0 Roselea 4

Roselea made a change at half time with David Beedie replacing Calum Rae.

Roselea then made a second change five minutes into the second half with Scott Riach replacing Craig Anderson.

Dale Reid had a chance of his hatrick on 52 minutes but could not connect with the ball as he tried an acrobatic finish.

Roselea had started the second half slighty on the back foot and Albion gave themselves a life line with a goal in 55 minutes. Scott Black was allowed too much space as a corner broke and carried on his run down the left side before crossing for Sam McDONALD to finish well from 12 yards out.

This maybe stirred Roselea as they upped their game and birthday boy & Club Captain celebrating his birthday scored a great fifth goal in 60 minutes. He picked up a loose ball 10 yards inside his own half before striding forward and playing a great one-two with Riach on the edge of the box and tucked the ball under the advancing Easton with a low right footed shot.

Ross & Reid both went close and brought out great saves from Dean Easton.

Reid went even closer in 68 minutes when a great touch from a high long ball saw him get one on one with the keeper but his shot struck the base of the post.

Roselea made their final change with Marcus Watt coming on for Danny Ross in 72 minutes.

There was no real urgency from Roselea from then on and many moves broke down with sloppy passing and poor decision making as the game drew to a satisfactory close for the away team.

Final Score: Forfar Albion 1 Montrose Roselea 5

After a great first half display with great tempo the second half failed to deliver the same however the result is one that Roselea would have taken at the start of the day. The win keeps Roselea on top by goal difference from East Craigie who won 3-2 at Blairgowrie and are also Albions next guests next Saturday. Draws between Arbroath Vics & North End and Downfield and Kirrie Thistle also did Roselea’s chances no harm at all.

Next week Roselea have a tough challenge as they travel to Downfield who are like most teams and still in with an outside shout of one of the two promotion places up for grabs. Kick Off is at 2.30pm
