Witkowski / Miret Dominate Bulldogs

Corey Witkowski and Rudy Miret struck out a combined 15 South Broward hitters as the Falcons(16-6,7-1) defeated the Bulldogs 8-1 tonight at South Broward high school. Witkowski pitched 5 innings allowing just 1 run on 1 hit and struck out 10. Miret struck out 5 of the 6 batters he faced to close out the game.

Flanagan jumped out 1-0 in the 1st inning when Josh Gonzaga singled in Ali Sanchez from 2nd base. Sanchez would then drive in the 2nd run on a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Rolando Gomez in the 3rd inning. The Falcons put the game away with a 5 run 6th inning highlighted by Pichi Torres' 2 run homer to left field and Gonzaga's 2 run single to centerfield. Zach Jackson and Rolando Gomez scored 2 runs apiece to lead the offense.

The Falcons travel to Deerfield Beach on Tuesday before playing their final regular season home game of the year on Thursday when they host Nova for "Senior Night"

Gonzaga Fans 13 in 6-1 Win over Plantation

Josh Gonzaga picked up his 3rd win of the season pitching 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 13 Plantation batters on the night. Flanagan(14-6) jumped out on top 4-0 in the 1st inning highlighted by Justin Frias' 6th home run of the season, a solo shot to right centerfield. The Colonials(5-16) scored their lone run in the 4th inning on 3 singles, the only hits allowed by Gonzaga. David Thomas pitched the 7th inning giving up an infield hit and striking out 2.

Offensively the Falcons were led by Frias who went 2 for 3 with the home run and 2 runs scored. Zach Jackson and Ali Sanchez added 2 hits each and Gonzaga drove in a run on a double in the 1st inning.

Flanagan will continue their "Lightning suspended" game against Pembroke Pines Charter today at Flamingo Park starting at 3:45.  The game will continue from the suspended point, bottom of the 3rd inning with the Falcons up 1-0.

Fondon Shuts Out Jaguars 3-0

Flanagan continues to get solid pitching performances as RJ Fondon(6-3) won his 3rd straight decision shutting out Pembroke Pines Charter(15-3) by a score of 3-0 this afternoon at Flamingo Park.  Fondon went the distance scattering 4 hits and striking out 4 on the day.

The Falcons(15-6) took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when lead off batter Zach Jackson doubled to right centerfield and came around to score on a single by Rolando Gomez. They extended the lead in the 4th inning when Josh Gonzaga singled and scored on Justin Frias' double to the left centerfield gap. Flanagan capped the scoring on a solo home run off the bat of Ali Sanchez to lead off the 6th inning, his 2nd HR on the season was a rocket shot down the leftfield line.

Flanagan closes out their regular season District schedule tomorrow night when they travel to South Broward. The game is at 6:30.

Falcons Overpower Pace 11-6 on Friday

Flanagan used 4 home runs to slug their way past the Monsignor Pace Spartans(16-4) on Friday Night 11-6. The Falcons jumped out on top 3-0 in the 1st inning on a solo shot by Rolando Gomez(his 7th HR of the season) and after Ali Sanchez reached on a wild pitch Justin Frias launched a 2 run homer to centerfield. Pace would answer with a 3 run inning of their own in the top of the 3rd inning tying the score at 3-3. Flanagan(13-6) would respond in the bottom of the inning scoring 4 times to take the lead for good. Zach Jackson led off the bottom of the 3rd inning with a double and would score ahead of Ali Sanchez's 1st Home run of the season. Frias would add to the lead with his 5th homer of the season and 2nd in the game. The solo shot gave the Falcons a 6-3 lead. Flanagan starter Corey Witkowski(6-0) picked up the win going 4 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 strike outs. Rudy Miret earned the save pitching the final 3 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 4. Sanchez scored 3 runs in the game, Frias drove in 3 runs and Michael Carballo added 2 hits to lead the offense.

Flanagan will play Pembroke Pines Charter on Monday at Flamingo Park, the game is scheduled for 3:45. They return home on Tuesday to face Plantation at 6:30 and then travel to South Broward on Thursday for their final regular season District game of the year.

Flanagan Outlasts St. Thomas in 8 innings 2-1

Flanagan starter RJ Fondon and Raiders starter Danny LoCastro took the mound for their respective teams in the 1st inning and both pitchers left the mound in the 8th inning. For Fondon it was after his 10th strike out of the game, LoCastro on the other hand walked off watching Flanagan(12-6) celebrate the win over St. Thomas(12-7) on Josh Gonzaga's RBI single to centerfield which scored Rolando Gomez from 3rd base.

Both pitchers did a good job limiting the opportunities on offense. Fondon(5-3) scattered 9 hits and allowed the 1 run in the 1st inning. LoCastro(4-1) gave up the game tying run in the 5th inning when Gomez doubled to centerfield plating Collin Martindale. Flanagan won the game when Gomez led off the 8th with a walk, advanced to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by Ali Sanchez. He went to 3rd on a throwing error by the catcher Adrian Patron and finally scored on the single by Gonzaga. Justin Frias went 2 for 3 for the Falcons with a double and Zach Jackson added 2 hits in the game. Gunnar Dennis went 3 for 3 for the Raiders with 3 singles.

The Falcons will host Miami-Monsignor Pace on Friday night at 6:30.
