Falcons jauggernaught Rolls Past Gators 19-3

Flanagan continues to dominate District 12 with their 3rd straight blowout win over Everglades(1-3, 0-3). This afternoon the Falcons(6-0, 3-0)  jumped out to a 11-0 lead in the 1st inning thanks in part to Ricky Santiago's 2 doubles and a bases clearing single by Matt Beauchemin. The rest of the day belonged to Jr. 3B- Andres Sanchez who launched his 3rd and 4th HR's of the season. He finished the day with 3 runs scored and 5 RBI.

Jose Mesa picked up his 2nd win of the season going 3 innings allowing just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 5. Mike Emigh closed out the game pitching 2 innings giving up 2 runs and striking out 4.

Flanagan travels to Parkland on Friday afternoon for a 3:45  showdown with Stoneman Douglas.

JV Sweeps Seminole Ridge

The Falcons JV continued their winning streak by sweeping a double header against Palm Beach-Seminole Ridge 22-2 and 8-3.

In game 1: The Falcons scored early and often pounding out 16 hits led by 2 freshman, catcher Benito Santiago and DH Ryan Dodge. Santiago(4 for 5, 2B, 3B, 5 runs and 6 RBI) was a HR short of hitting for the cycle. Dodge(4 for 4, BB, 5 RBI) blasted his 1st HR of the season, a no doubter to deep left centerfield.

Fr. RHP-Logan Morales(1-0) picked up his 1st win pitching 4 innings giving up just 1 earned run on 1 hit.

Game 2 saw a good pitching matchup through 4 innings as both teams could only muster 1 run a piece. Falcons starter So. RHP- Rudy Reyes pitched well but would be lifted in the 5th inning with the score tied at 1-1. He allowed just 3 hits and 1 earned run. Fr. RHP-Alex Sarmiento(2-0) would come in and pitch 2 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts to pick up the win. 

The offense was led by So. 1B-Casey Torres(2 for 3, 2B, HR, RBI) and Santiago( 2 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI).

The Falcons(4-0-1) will be at home next Sat. March 5th when they face McArthur in a double header starting at 10:00am.

Falcons Bats Errupt in District Clash with Western

The Falcons entered their District matchup with Western cousiously. Both teams came in undefeated and with the tight one run win Flanagan had in the last meeting they were well aware of the effort the Wildcats would bring.

Early on it looked like the game would be closely contested as Western(3-1,1-1) escaped the 1st inning giving up just 1 run and taking a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Falcons(5-0,2-0) would send 17 batters to the plate and when the 40 min. half inning was over, Flanagan had scored 12 runs highlighted by Mike Melendez's grand slam HR. The Senior went 3 for 3 with a BB and 6 RBI. He also picked up his 3rd win of the year pitching 4 innings allowing just 2 unearned runs and striking out 2. Andres Sanchez, Ricky Santiago, Matt Figueroa and Robert Collin each had multi-hit games. In the 4th inning Flanagan extended the lead as Sr. Keil Conway blasted a 2 run HR to deep left centerfield followed by Jr. Carlos Lopez's solo shot to rightfield the 1st career varsity HR for each player.

Flanagan will next travel to Everglades on Monday for a 3:45 District game and then play at Stoneman Douglas on Friday at 3:45.

JV Falcons Manhandle Cowboys

A day after the varsity pounded Cooper City 16-3 the JV Falcons went in and blasted the Cowboys 21-0.

Offensively the Falcons had 5 players with multiple hits. Led by Ryan Dodge(2 for 3, 2 runs), Oscar Rodriguez(2 for 4, 2 BB's, 3 Runs), Andres Visbal( 2 for 3, 2 runs) and AJ Munoz( 2 for 2, 2 BB's). 9 Players scored at least 1 run and 1 hit in the game.

On the mound So. RHP- Tyler Neville(1-0) pitched a complete game 1 hit shutout earning his 1st win of the season. He had a perfect game through 4 innings before allowing a lead off HBP in the 5th and then giving up the lone hit in the 6th inning. He struck out 5 batters in the game.

Tie and a Win for JV Home Opener

For the Falcons JV in their season opening double header against St. Thomas Aquinas, they let a win slip through their grasp in game 1 ending in a 4-4 tie; but bounced back in game 2 by putting the Raiders away early in a 14-1 blowout.

Game 1 Recap:

The offense was led by Fr. C-Benito Santiago who went 2 for 3 with a 2B, 3B and 1 run scored, So. 2B-Andres Visbal (2 for3) run scored and 1 RBI, and Fr. OF-Oscar Rodriguez (2 for 3) with 2 stolen bases, run scored and an RBI.

Starting pitcher Fr.-Logan Morales pitched well going 5 innings giving up just 1 unearned run while striking out 5 batters.

Game 2 Recap:

Once again Oscar Rodriguez (3 for 3) 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and an RBI and Benito Santiago paced the offense going (2 for 3) with a 2B, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Fr.- Ryan Dodge and So.- Daniel Oliveri added 2 hits a piece in the game.

Fr. RHP Alex Sarmiento(1-0) picked up the win going 3 innings giving up just 2 hits, 1 BB and 2 strikeouts.

The Falcons JV will travel to Cooper City on Wed. Feb 23rd for a 3:45 game against the Cowboys.
