Late Rally Seals Deal versus Timber Creek

Flanagan ended their spring break trip with a 4 and 0 record thanks in part to a late rally against Timber Creek dispite some questionable calls or non calls by the umpires. Falcons starter Mike Melendez was in a pitching duel with the Wolves ace Johnny Rivera  through 3 scoreless innings. In the bottom of the 4th inning Timber Creek broke through with a run. The 1-0 lead seemed like a lock the way the game was playing out. In the top of the 6th inning the Falcons offense came alive. Matt Figueroa led off with a single. After a sac bunt by Ryan Lozada moved Gabby Aurrecoechea (pinch runner) over to 2nd base, Ricky Santiago would be intentionally walked bringing up the Falcons hottest player Rob Collin. Collin didn't disappoint driving an RBI single to left centerfield tying the game at 1-1. After a walk to Melendez loaded the bases Falcons next hottest hitter Andres Sanchez blasted a bases clearing double to deep left centerfield giving Flanagan a 4-1 lead. Figueroa went 2 for 2 with a walk on the night to lead the offense.

Melendez(4-2) held on for the complete game win allowing just 6 hits and 2 runs  over 7 innings. The lefthander walked 3 and struck out 10 on the night.

Flanagan(11-2) is off the rest of the week. They will host Cooper City on Tues. March 22nd  at 6:30pm.
