Flanagan's offense remained steady on a day when the pitching and defense staggered. In the end the Falcons were able to hold off a gritty Bobcat team 9-7. The win put the Falcons back on top of District 12. West Broward (10-9, 8-2) will be the #2 seed in the District tournament which will be in 2 weeks.

The Falcons came out swinging in the 1st inning as Ricky Santiago led off the game with a double and came around to score on Mike Melendez's single to right field. 2 batters later Andres Sanchez(1 for 3, BB, HR, 2 runs, 2 RBI) drove his County leading 13th HR over the left centerfield wall extending the lead to 3-0. In the 3rd inning the Falcons picked up 3 more runs when Mike Melendez(2 for 4) led off with a double, walks to Danny Zardon and Zack Collins(1 for 3, BB, 2B, 1 run) loaded the bases for Gaby Aurrecoechea who singled in Christian Nelson (CR for Melendez). Matthew Figueroa(2 for 4) followed with an RBI single off the glove of 3B Luigi Perez. Ryan Lozada's sacrifice fly plated Collins from 3rd base for the 6th run. West Broward would keep the game close throughout scoring 2 runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings. With the score 8-6 in the 6th inning Zardon(1 for 3, BB, HR, 2 runs) delivered his 3rd HR of the season a solo shot to left field extending the lead once again to 3 at 9-6.

Mike Melendez pitched in and out of trouble for 3.1 innings allowing 6 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts before giving way to Jose Mesa. Mesa(5-0) would get through the next 2.2 innings relatively easy for the win before struggling in the 7th. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, 5 walks and 3 K's in his 3.1 total innings of work. Robert Collin picked up his 2nd save of the season pitching the final .1 of an inning. With a runner on 1st and 2 outs Collin gave up a single and a walk to load the bases before striking out Perez for the final out.

The Falcons(16-2, 9-1) will be off for the next 11 days due to FCAT testing before rounding out the regular season schedule with 2 home games against Coral Springs Charter on Tues. April 19th and Pembroke Pines Charter on Thurs. April 21st (Senior Night)
