Our Varsity track and field team competed at the TAPPS 6A State Meet and finished with some pretty good results. The Vikings qualified four members of the Varsity team and brought them to Waco to compete against the state’s best athletes. The meet was held at Baylor University’s Clyde Hart stadium.

Jordan de la T. competed in the 100 meters Hurdles and finished 9th. Jordan is the first freshman Track & Field runner to qualify for State in the history of the program. Ben A. finished second in the 800 meters, a race he lost at the tape. Ben posted a time of 155.60 which is one of the better times in the nation, and a new school record. Ben also finished 4th in the 400 meters with a time of 50.69. Alex A-E posted a time of 9:47.70 in the 3200m, which was good enough for a new school record and a 3rd place finish. Alex also finished 3rd in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:35.44, which also set a new school. Lastly Iyanu A. got 3rd place in the long jump, recording a distance of 21’3. Iyanu also Finished 2nd in the high jump, setting a new school record with a distance of 6’4 . The kids were outstanding and competed at a very high level.
