Mustangs 16 - Drew Farms 3

The Mustangs put up 13 runs in the first two innings, and Mike Kennedy capped it off with a walk-off three-run homer in the fifth inning to beat Drew Farms, 16-3. Don Cusano and Bill Knute each had two home runs. Paul Selfridge and Dan Crogan continued their hot-hitting ways (5 for 5 combined), and continued to anchor the middle of the infield with great defense.

Pro Sports Therapy 9 - Willis Tent 5

Pro Sports Therapy jumped out to an 8-0 lead over Willis Tent on Tuesday night and held on for a 9-5 win. Dave Weaver led the offense for Pro Sports, going 4-for-4 with two RBI. Andrew Fletcher and John Bodi also contributed three hits and an RBI each.

Willis Tent 19 - Healy Oil 6

Willis Tent defeated Healy Oil in convincing fashion, 19-6. Willis’ Kevin Adolph (3-for-4, home run, 4 RBI), Rob Swinamer (3-for-3, home run, 3 RBI) and Jeff Briggs (2-for-4, home run, 2 RBI) were key contributors in the win. Also chipping in was the newest addition to Willis, Andrew Metters, who went 2-for-4, hit his first home run, and knocked in three runs. Steve Damiani and Ryan Gleason played stellar defense for “the Tent.”

Mario’s Restaurant 7, Mustangs 5

Mario’s continued its recent surge by ending the Mustangs’ season-opening eight-game unbeaten streak Friday night, holding the Mustangs’ high powered offense to just five runs in a 7-5 victory. Mario’s overcame a 3-1 deficit by sandwiching four home runs around two walks in the sixth inning, twice going back to back, with Murph McKeon, Thanh Nguyen, Jon Russo and Keith Reynolds taking the ball deep. Mario’s gave back two runs in the bottom of the sixth before Nguyen closed out the seventh, aided by a game-ending double play turned by Reynolds and Mario Brancato. Defensively, Mario’s snared a number of line drives to keep the Mustangs off the scoreboard, with Kieran Murray, Chris Brooks and Dave Batchelder making standout catches. Mustangs played errorless ball, but the only bright spots at the plate were Don Cusano (3-for-3 with 2 homers), Bill Knute and Jack Erickson (both 2-for-3 with a home run), and Dan Crogan (2-for-2).

Short Cut 19, Drew Farms

Friday night Short Cut beat Drew Farms, 19-6, on the power of a relentless offensive attack that had everyone in the line up getting on base. Carl Dean and Chris Smith were each 3-for-3, and Chris Clark provided the power with two opposite field home runs.

Healy Oil 13 - Floral Arts 10

Healy took advantage of the long ball and some sketchy Floral Arts defense to forge a 13-10 victory. Simon Tripp, Tom Semeter, and Jonathan Morgan homered for Floral Arts.

Mario’s Restaurant 16 - Shortcut 12

Shortcut lost to Mario's Restaurant, 16-12, and now has a 3-3 record this season. Dave Sullivan and Mike Gross each had two homers for Short Cut.

Mustangs 13 - Pro Sport Therapy 12

Mustangs were one out away from their first loss of the season when Paul Selfrige hit a two-run walk off homer in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Mustangs a hard-fought 13-12 victory over Pro Sports Therapy. It was Selfrige's second home run of the game to go along with three RBI. Mustang Don Cusano also chipped in with two home run blasts and three RBI of his own. Jay Dolan and Mike Kennedy (3-3, home run, 2 RBI, 2 runs) had three hits apiece. Mustang hurler Paul Ligouri won his fourth straight decision on the mound. Also having big nights for PST were Jeff Morse with three hits, Steve Nolan with four hits, and a home run from Dave Weaver.

Drew Farms 18, Willis Tent 11

A 10 run first inning, featuring grand slams by Todd Shepherd and Scott Cole highlighted a strong hitting performance for Drew Farms in their defeat of Willis Tent. Defense was solid at all positions and each player recorded at least one hit.

Pro Sport Therapy 26 - Willis Tent 13

Pro Sports Therapy had their biggest offensive night of the year to earn a walk off run rule victory in the top of the seveneth. PST got contributions up and down the lineup, beginning with a Dave Chirokas grand slam in the first. Steve Nolan had another big night, going 4-5 with two home runs and 7 RBI. Drew Farms 13 - Healy Oil 8

Drew Farms continued playing strong defense to help secure a 13-8 win over Healy Oil. Drew Farms scored in every inning. A key three-run home run late in the game by Tom Menicci helped put a little distance in the score. Mark McAleese continues to hit the ball well and often as Drew Farms returned to a .500 record.

Mario’s Restaurant 17 - Pro Sports Therapy 12

Mario’s Restaurant won its second game of the week and enjoyed their biggest run output to date, hitting five home runs and scoring at least a run in every inning. Roger's Recap

Mustangs 15 - Marios 1

Mustang lefty Bill Knute celebrated his birthday with three home runs and seven RBI to lead the 5-0 Mustangs past Mario’s Restaurant, 15-1. Paul Ligouri pitched tremendously for the Mustangs, giving up only one earned run. Shortstop Paul Selfrige turned a great double play on a feed from Dan Crogan to stop an early Mario's rally. In addition to making two outstanding plays at second base, Mustang Mark Cusano hit a walk off two-run homer to nail down the Mustangs 5th straight mercy rule win. Other Mustangs who chipped in with three hits apiece were Jim Ward, Jay Dolan, and Don Cusano (home run, 3 RBI).

Floral Arts 4 - Healy Oil 2

Home runs by Floral Arts' Roger Whittlesey and Healy's Joe Ingalls were the only signs of life for two otherwise listless offenses. Both Frank Lancelotta for Floral and Mike Martin for Healy pitched exceptional games, each getting an abundance of weak fly outs. Aggressive base running by Jon Haslam caused an errant throw that allowed him to score the eventual winning run late in the game.

Floral Arts 12 - Mario’s Restaurant 8

The middle of the lineup powered Floral Arts to 12-8 victory on Wednesday as Jim Peloquin (3-3, 2 HR, 5 RBI) and Simon Tripp (2-2, HR, 2 RBI) provided the offense, and Larry Mardany shut Mario’s down in the last two innings to preserve the win. All told, Floral pounded out 18 hits and would have done more damage if not for some solid defense from Mario’s. Than Nguyen and Dave Batchelder each hit homers and had multiple hit games to pace Mario’s. Brian Collamore (3 for 3) and Tony DeAntonis (double and RBI) contributed, while Nguyen pitched another strong game as he has settled into the primary pitcher role.

Mustangs 16 - Healy Oil 11

The Mustangs squeaked out a hotly contested 16-11 win over long time rival Healy Oil behind Paul Ligouri's pitching and Mark Cusano's two hits (Including a home run a 5 RBI). Other Mustangs who chipped in two hits apiece and at least one RBI were Jay Dolan, Jim Ward, Don Cusano, Craig Smith, Dan Crogan, and Chris Jordan. Mustang outfielder Jim Ward made an outstanding inning ending sliding catch late in the game with the tying runs on base to preserve a two run lead. Healy Oil’s David O’Keefe, usually known for putting out fires, was ablaze at the plate, hitting two home runs, knocking in five, but was kept from doing more damage when he was pitched around in his final at-bat.

Short Cut Landscaping 19 - Pro Sports Therapy 4

SCL pounded out 6 home runs to overwhelm Pro Sports Therapy, who were limited to 4 runs on just 6 hits. Mike Gross hit two half way to Groton to lead SCL.
