Floral Arts 21 - Mario’s Restaurant 2  On Friday evening, Floral Arts improved its regular season record to 19-2 and clinched first place for the first time in the team’s history. Floral Arts surrendered book end runs in the first and the fifth, but scored early and often to take a 21-2 victory over Mario's. Larry Mardany gave up a first pitch homerun to Murph McEwen to start the game, but didn't allow an earned run after that. Ken Delaney was the offensive star for Floral, going 4-for-4 with a pair of two run home runs. Roger Whittlesey and Simon Tripp also homered for Floral, and Dean Wormell added two more hits and RBI.

Nashoba Valley Veterinarian Mustangs 12 - Willis Tent 11  Mark Cusano drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th, as the Nashoba Valley Veterinary Mustangs pulled out a win against Willis Tent, 12-11. Don Cusano was the star at the plate, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs. Paul Liguori pitched a steady seven innings, keeping Willis from putting together any big innings. The win clinches 2nd place for the Mustangs.

Drew Farms 16 - Gutcheck 11  A 12-run third inning from Drews powered a strong hitting game. Drews posted 13 hits in the third, with home runs from Todd Shepherd and Steve Abbott, and a multiple hit inning from Mark MacAleese and Tom Menicci. Strong pitching from Don Barnas was supported by solid defense from MacAleese and Pat Pawlak. Mark Kost, Menicci, Bill Bowser and Barnas had three or more hits.

Mario’s Restaurant 21 - Short Cut Landscaping 12  Mario’s Restaurant extended their late season playoff push to 4 wins in a row, beating Short Cut by a 21-12 margin. Mario’s was down 6-2 early before back-to-back home runs by Dave Batchelder (3 run) and Jim DeMarco, and a sacrifice fly by Raghu Mantena put them into the lead for good. A seven run fifth inning broke the game open as Mario’s strung together 9 singles in 10 at-bats. Greg Fitzgerald chipped in with 3 hits, John Geary (a triple shy of hitting for the cycle) added a grand slam in the sixth and Brian Collamore closed out the seventh with a 3 rbi trip around the bases. Collamore also shined defensively in center with several running catches.

Mario’s 21 - Gutcheck 15  Mario’s Restaurant built up a 21-5 lead over Gutcheck before the skies opened up, allowing Gutcheck to rally with 10 runs late before Mario’s closed the door on a 21-15 victory. Mario’s pounded 5 home runs with newcomer Luke Boulanger finding the range from the left side of the plate, Thanh Nguyen adding 2 more to his team lead, and Keith Reynolds and Jon Russo connecting as well.

Mike Alonardo made a bevy of sweet defensive plays in right field, including a strong throw from right center to double off a stray runner.
