FGSA has 4 divisions, which are primarily determined by age*, but also to some extent by skill level. At all levels, our goal is to create well-matched teams so that the girls have fun while they are learning the game of softball! Read below to find out more about each division:

7U: This division is for girls ages 5-7. It is primarily for beginners and is non-competitive (scores are not kept during the games). The main goal is for the girls to have fun(!) while also learning basic softball skills like throwing, catching, and hitting. For the first half of the season or so the girls will hit from a tee; later they may begin to hit from coach-pitched soft toss.

10U: This division is for girls 10 and under. It is still non-competitive (scores are not kept during the games). Many of the players in this division are beginners, while some have 1-2 years’ experience. In this division, girls will continue to learn softball fundamentals such as making infield plays. They will learn to hit player-pitched balls and will have the opportunity to learn how to pitch (if desired).

13U: This division is for girls 13 and under. This is the first competitive division where scores are kept in the games. While many of the girls in this division have played before, there are also always beginners as well. We welcome new players in every division! In this division, girls will continue to progress in their skills, learning to hit from faster pitching and to play in the field more strategically.

18U: This division is for girls 18 and under. Many of the girls in this division also play softball on a high school team (the high school season and FGSA season do not overlap). This league is a great way to maintain their skills in the off season, or to improve their skills prior to trying out for a high school team. While many of the girls in this division have played before, there are also always beginners as well. We welcome new players in every division!

  • League age is the age as of Jan 1 of that year.
