Founded in 1981, the mission of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association is to promote women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport of women's basketball and to foster and promote the development of the game in all of its aspects as an amateur sport for women and girls.

Albany Capitals Girls Basketball Club

The Capitals are committed to assisting female student athletes ages 11 through 16 in improving their individual basketball skills by providing knowledgeable coaching along with the opportunity to play with and against the highest level of competition. An equally important goal of the club is to develop character, teamwork, and sportsmanship in an enjoyable basketball environment. Players also develop new friendships established through the travel and competitive experience.
The Albany Capitals also provide those girls who wish to pursue basketball in college the opportunity to demonstrate their basketball abilities at AAU tournaments attended by college coaches and recruiters. In this regard, the Capitals participate in tournaments in an eleven state region consisting of New England and the Middle Atlantic States as well as in National AAU tournaments.
