2014 Season Ends

Congratulations to the Delmarva Long Term Care Insurance Center team on winning the 2014 regular season championship. Here are the final standings:

The seeds for the tournaments, after resolving ties between B & E Tires and Edward Jones for 3rd place and James Joyce and Ocean View for 8th place using head-to-head results, are as follows:

The tournament starts next Tuesday, 8/26, and continues on Wednesday, 8/27, Thursday, 8/28, Tuesday, 9/2 and Thursday, 9/4. If needed to make up rainouts, we will be playing on Wednesday, 9/3.

Umpires are being assigned to the tournament games as follows. Managers/Assistant Managers are to ensure their team provides umpires for assigned games.

The highest seed team umpires the game before them & the lowest seed team at 10:30 umpires the game after them.

Here is the schedule for the first two days. Note how the home team is determined for each game.

AND DON'T FORGET THE END-OF-SEASON PICNIC ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH STARTING AT NOON. COME SEE THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FIRST.

Congratulations to Delmarva Long Term Care Insurance for clinching the 2014 OTS Regular Season championship with their 6 - 5 victory over Robinson Furniture. The team, sponsored by LTCI owner Joe Gahm and managed by Dave Sroka and Terry Thomas, took over first place after the 8/5 games and haven't lost since.

LTCI will be the #1 seed in the tournament which is scheduled to start next week.

Dynamic Physical Therapy locked up the #2 tournament seed with their 8 - 7 win over Ocean View Family Restaurant. Edward Jones has locked up the #3 seed.

With the exception of these 3 teams and All Out Sports, the last games on Thursday have seeding implications.

Team Maroon upset Team Carolina Blue in the Wednesday Night League Tournament final by a score of 18 - 11.

Keith Purdy, manager of Team Carolina Blue, said "Team Maroon beat the heavily-favored team today."

Team Carolina Blue finished the regular season undefeated, and had beaten Team Maroon three times during the regular season by scores of  16 - 4, 18 - 17 and 17 - 3.

Team Maroon never trailed in the championship game after scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.

END OF SEASON PICNIC

Everything is all set for the end of season picnic. Mark your calendars and plan to be there.

When: Thursday, September 4th - 12:00 to 3:00

Where: American Legion Post #24 - indoors

Cost: $5 per person, family members 12 and under are free

Food: Roast beef and rolls, soda, tea and water will be provided, plus salads and desserts provided by the attendees and a cash bar

Featuring: Our very own DJ, Sky Brady, our very own magician, Glen Kohr and our very own President, Bo Wood.

Each player and his guest(s) is requested to bring a salad and/or a dessert large enough to serve 6.

 

 

 

Sunoco Logistics has joined forces with the Delaware County Daily Times to sponsor the 31st Annual Champs ‘n’ Charity Classic to benefit the American Cancer Society. The annual softball tournament has raised over $700,000 for the fight against cancer.

You can help with the fundraising by buying a $5 chance—or more—for some tremendous prizes! Tickets are available online at www.champsncharity.com. CnC staff will complete a chance for every $5 that you donate. Over the years, we have had many online winners.

The drawing will be August 18 at the Mickey Vernon Field in Marcus Hook following the championship game.
