District 12 Challenger Division has been chosen to go to the Little League World Series

The District 12 Challenger Division would like to extend an opportunity for you to help them with their dream of going to a World Series. Each summer during Championship Saturday of the Little League Baseball World Series, two local Little League Challenger Division programs are given the unique opportunity to play in a once-in-a-lifetime game on Volunteer Stadium in the Little League Challenger Division Exhibition Game.

District 12 has been chosen out of over 1000 leagues to play in the 2019 Little League Challenger Division Exhibition Game at the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport Pa. This is the first Challenger team from Massachusetts chosen and we could not be more honored.

A little about the Challenger Division – Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations, they should do so. The Little League Challenger has 2 divisions which accommodates players ages 4 to 18 and the Senior League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 15 and above (no maximum age).

To be successful, District 12 Challenger Little League depends on a tremendous amount of support from our local community. This year your tax-deductible donation (District 12 Challenger Little League is a 501©(3) organization) will help us offset the costs of the trip to the 2019 Little League Challenger Division Exhibition Game at the Little League Baseball® World Series in Williamsport Pa.

We are offering a player sponsorship along with our regular sponsorship. There are two different types of player sponsorships to help pay for the players trip, from paying for the whole trip or making donations in the players name. Your name will be place on the website as sponsoring a player for either
donation.

As we prepare for our trip to Williamsport, we hope you will join us by supporting and being part of our sponsorship community. From our Board of Directors, our families and volunteers, and most especially from our Challenger players who will have an exceptional Little League World Series experience with your support . . . thank you.

Frank Bucca 1931-2018

Massachusetts District 12 Little League lost a great friend with the passing of longtime Assistant District Administrator Frank Bucca.  Frank had been the D12 Rules Director for almost 50 years and his devotion to youth baseball was unwavering.  His knowledge of the rules of Little League baseball was unparalled and he was always available to anyone who required any clarification or interpretation.  Anyone who was involved in D12 Little League baseball can attest to his commitment.  We were proud to call him our friend and will sorely miss his wisdom and guidance.

Frank was a Korean War veteran and longtime member of the Somerville Elks.  He leaves 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they cope with their loss.

Rest in Peace Frank.  We are better for having known you.
