After taking a week off for Mother’s Day, Liga de Yonkers got back into the swing with 5 games.

In the first match El Carmen handed Atlas their first loss of the season by defeating them 4-2. It was an exciting game and El Carmen just seemed to wear down Atlas in the end.

San Lorenzo had only scored 1 goal in its two previous games, but took out the big guns and scored 7 goals against Monarcas. Monarcas still has some open spots on their roster and plan to add some scorers, but today San Lorenzo was just too much for them.

NY El Salvador had not scored a goal this season, but had a 0-1-1 record. They got their first win defeating CD Alianza 3-0. Both teams have excellent players and will be teams to watch in the future.

Game 4 saw Honduras defeat Puma 5-2. Honduras has a strong team and will be representing EDSL in the State Cup final and was simply too good for Puma this Sunday. But Puma has an explosive team and needs to be taken seriously.

The final game saw Sport Peru defeat Juventus 5-0. Sport Peru now sits at the top of the leader board with 7 points in 3 games. They have a fast team with aggressive strikers and is always pushing the action. Juventus can’t be taken lightly. In the 3 games they have played they have shown that they come to play and never back down.

Liga de Yonkers is taking Memorial Day off and want to thank all the men and women in the armed forces for their service and to thank those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

This Sunday will be an exciting one for the EDSL. It also may be an historic one. Honduras has already punched its ticket to the Flamhaft State Cup Final and awaits the winner of the semifinal matchup between Polonia, a Cosmopolitan Soccer League team that has already knocked off two EDSL squads (Hudson Valley, Yorktown) along the way, and Primo FC. Primo FC is a brand new team to the EDSL and has already made it’s mark as a perennial contender for league and State Cups. This match will take place at 12pm in Pine Bush, NY on Sunday, May 17th. An all EDSL Final would be an incredible feat and one that we will undoubtedly be rooting for. Good Luck Primo FC!

Not to be overlooked will be the Marth Over 30 State Cup Semifinal matchup between the NY Dinamo, of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League and Czechoslovakia of the EDSL. Czechoslovakia have won numerous titles in their history for the EDSL and are looking to bring home another State Title in their first year in the Over 30 division. They are an incredible team and they represent the EDSL this Sunday, May 17th at 10 am on Randall Island. Awaiting the winner of this game will be the Manhattan Kickers Premier of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. Good Luck Czechoslovakia!
