News and Announcements
Hello ELL Family!
Most of you should have already received the district wide email sent earlier today by District 42 suspending all Little League related activities until April 6th. As disappointing as it is, our priority is everyone’s health. Our ELL Board of Directors will be closely monitoring and following what public health officials recommend to ensure our baseball community resumes when it is appropriate and safe.
Knowing how this can affect a community very rapidly we can’t emphasize enough to be mindful of the strain this can cause our health care system as it has in Washington, China, Italy and now Spain. Please continue to practice the recommended social distancing, good hygiene practices such as washing your hands and coughing into your elbow recommended by the CDC. We all need to do our part to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. So if you are asked to stay home please do so to ensure those higher risk groups aren’t exposed.
One thing that I see as a silver lining in all this is the rise of quality family time and people helping people. With our lives in a constant bustle of activities we are being forced back to basics. Family game nights and movie nights are now trending. Families are enjoying time that is unconnected. They are doing crafts and painting. Communities are banding together to help each other. Stepping in to help the elderly or those with a special need. People are actually talking to each other.
Keep spreading kindness and be thankful to those on the front line. Those nurses, doctors and first responders that are working day and night. Those store clerks that are working tirelessly to help keep those store shelves stocked. Be patient, remember they all have families too.
We hope to see baseball back on our fields as soon as possible. For now we will wait until we are cleared to do so. All of our fields and batting cages will remain closed until April 6th. At that time we will follow the directive given. Until then, please be safe and healthy.
I look forward to seeing you all on the diamond soon. Go Eastlake!
President, Eastlake Little League
Hello Eastlake Little League Players and Families,
Please see the statement from Little League International regarding the Corona Virus. ELL and Little League International are dedicated to making the safety of your children a top priority.
Full Statement can be accessed here:
From Little League International:
We encourage all those that are actively participating in their Little League seasons – including players, volunteers, families, and fans – to follow the best practices as outlined by the CDC, which include washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (if soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer); avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands; and avoid close contact with people who are sick. We would also encourage you all to limit close, physical contact with others (including shaking hands). Click here to learn more about the CDC recommendations.
Leagues should consult the appropriate county and/or local authorities regarding recommendations on how to proceed with large gatherings of people.
Also, if you or your child are ill; have a fever, cough, or respiratory condition; have a compromised immune system; are in any other group that may be at an increased risk of contracting a virus like the coronavirus; or have recently traveled to a country listed on the CDC’s Risk Assessment by Country, we encourage you or your child to refrain from Little League-related activities until cleared by your healthcare provider.
Hand washing and not touching your face or eyes are the best preventative measures! And please stay home if you are sick!
Stay well ELL!
