San Onofre beat Germania by the score of 6-0 on Sunday to win the 2014 EDSL Playoffs. Unfortunately, for Germania they had to play down players the entire game. San Onofre scored 5 of their 6 goals in the first half of the game. However, in a good show of sportsmanship, San Onofre did not try to add any more goals as the remainder of the game played out. Excellent Officiating done by the referee crew. Congratulations to both teams and especially to San Onofre for an outstanding season and run to the Championship!

San Onofre won the first semifinal of the EDSL Steve Howansky Cup by outlasting Westchester CF by the score of 3-2. Westchester went ahead 1-0 and San Onofre tied the game with a PK from their captain Manuel. Westchester CF missed 2 penalties which were both saved by the San Onofre goalkeeper!
San Onofre also played some of the game with only 10 men after midfielder Evandro Jose received a straight Red card for an unnecessary hard tackle in the middle of the field.

Next week 6/1/14 there will be 2 more games at Tibbets Park #3 one at 10am which will be the EDSL final game of the Open Playoff. The top Red Division seed, Germania, squaring off vs. 2nd Seed on the Blue division San Onofre

At Germania field in Poughkeepsie The number 1 Red seed, Germania, overcame the first year number 3 Blue seed, African Youth Academy, by the score of 2-1. Germania scored first but AYA fought back and tied the game in the second half. At Columbus Park in Port Chester, the number 2 Blue seed, San Onofre, won by the score of 4-2 vs. The number 5 Red seed, Ossining Portuguese, saw their “Cinderella story run” come to an end.
