Week 7 in the Over 30 Division resulted in no changes in the standings. The top half of the table remains the same as Czechoslovakia, Germania, Washingtonville , and Ossining all claimed victories. The reigning Division and State Champions, Czechoslovakia, remain undefeated as they outlasted Fishkill with a 5-3 victory. Germania (6-1) and Washingtonville (6-1) continued their winning ways and remain only separated by goal differential as Germania defeated Mahopac 6-2 and Washingtonville held on for the 2-1 victory over the division “hard luck” team East Fishkill. East Fishkill (2-3-1) are tied with Czechoslovakia with only 10 goals against and each one of their three losses have only been by 1 goal.
Ossining took care of business with a convincing 5-1 victory over Putnam and remain in fourth place, 6 points behind Washingtonville and Germania. Somers grabbed their first win of the year with a 5-1 victory over winless LaGrange.

In a battle for league supremacy, Czechoslovakia, the defending State Champions, played host to the perennial division powerhouse Germania. It was an early season litmus test as both teams entered the game with undefeated records. In the end Czechoslovakia, the defending Over 30 division champions, came away with a 5-1 convincing victory and now look to be on their way to another title run. In other top of the table action Washingtonville travelled to undefeated Ossining . Having suffered a lopsided loss to Czechoslovakia two weeks earlier, Washingtonville were looking to prove that they belonged back in the conversation for title contenders. Ossining have proven to be tough and were also looking to make a statement in this early season clash. Washingtonville were able to grab a 2-1 lead midway through the second half and added a third goal with less than 10 minutes remaining. Washingtonville held on for the 3-1 road victory and have moved into a tie for second place only trailing Germania on goal differential.

This past Sunday (August 2nd) the weather was hot and games were even hotter. In the first game Monarcas, who is still looking for its first win, has a 3-1 lead after the first half of action but couldn’t hold on. The heat took it’s toll and with no substitues on the bench El Carmen scored 5 times to pull out the win 5-3. Monarcas has been playing really good soccer the past coupleof weeks and everyone know a “W” is in their near future.

In the second game NY El Salvador held on to win 2-1 against San Lorenzo. Both teams have been playing well and this close match had plenty of excitement for all.

Puma and CD Alianza came to play with the defense dominating play. The teams played to a 1-1 tie which was good enough to Keep CD Alianza in the overall second slot.

CD Juventus came to play and knocked off a tough Honduras team 3-0. Not sure if Honduras took Juventus too lightly but the loss drops Honduras in the standings.

Sport Peru, who has been the team to beat, defeated a real good ATlas team 2-0. Sport Peru continues to hold the top spot in the leaders board for 8 weeks now.

The top eight teams will advance to a Playoff round and right now 9 out of the 10 teams are still in a hunt for a spot. A couple of wins could jump the eighth placed team into a top four contender. With two thirds of the season over every game is an important game.

Check out all the play Sundays at Pelton Field in Yonkers.
