At the league meeting held on December 4, a new President and Vice President were elected to replace the outgoing officers. Chris Smith of Short Cut was elected President and John Hunter of Willis Tent was elected Vice President. A new Treasurer is being sought to replace Chris. Nominations can be made to the League Secretary. In addition, the board voted to expand the league qualification requirement for entry into the draft for the upcoming season. In 2007, residents of Westford as well as those who work full time for a Westford business are now eligible to play in the league. The league rules and bylaws reflecting this change will be presented at the first spring meeting.

President and Vice President Resign

With the conclusion of the 2006 season, President Paul Berard has announced his retirement. In addition, Bill Faherty has also announced his resignation as the Vice President. All of us in the league would like to thank both Paul and Bill for their dedication and efforts. The league is actively seeking nominations for both positions. Nominations can be made to the League Secretary.

Healy Oil Moves On

Healy Oil defeated Z's Sports Shop 6-5 in extra innings to move on to the finals against the Mustangs. The 3 games to 1 series victory puts Healy's into the position of being able to defend their title. The series will begin on Tuesday, September 19, at 6:30 PM. Mustangs Sweep Into Finals

The Mustangs were the first team to earn a berth in the 2006 Finals. Their 8-3 victory over Drew Farms completed a three game sweep. Meanwhile, in the first game, Healy Oil jumped out to an early lead and held off Z's Sports Shop attempt at repeating their late game heroics of Game 2. Due to the Mustangs sweep, the Z's Sports Shop - Healy Oil game is the only one on Sunday and will be moved into the earlier 5:30 slot per league rule. Sunday, September 17 5:30 Z's Sports Shop @ Healy Oil Tuesday, September 19 6:30 Healy Oil @ Z's Sports Shop (IF NECESSARY) Finals will begin as soon as possible after the conclusion of the semi-final series, but no later than Friday (9/22), weather permitting. Game time for each of these contests is 6:30.
