Designed to provide local leagues the opportunity to honor a deserving individual with this prestigious distinction, the Massachusetts Little League Volunteer of the Year Award Program was recently established in 2014 as a vehicle for recognizing the selfless efforts of thousands of volunteers at the grass-roots level of Massachusetts Little League Baseball and Softball. The Massachusetts Little League Volunteer of the Year Award program will be presented during a pre-game recognition at a Boston Red Sox game.

Message from the Red Sox Foundation
Bekah Salwasser - Executive Director
Mike Egan - Borad Member and Red Sox Partner

We are honored to continue our partnership with Massachusetts Little League for the sixth year and hope to encourage more leagues to participate in the coming season. As a former Little League player myself, I understand how vital the program is to teaching important lessons of good sportsmanship, teamwork and camaraderie. We know that volunteers like you are the heart and soul of the league and we appreciate all that you do to afford kids to play baseball and softball in your neighborhoods! In 2019, the Red Sox Foundation will further its commitment by hosting Coaches Clinics to help volunteers and administrators like you - who are pillars of the team - to develop training skills in all areas of the game so that you can create and promote a culture of positive, character-building competitive team in your neighborhood. Please look for more information in the coming weeks about the clinic from MA Little League.

Read letter in its entirety here

The partnership will help assist the nearly 180 leagues with sponsorship, support of their Massachusetts Little League State Tournament in Middleboro (taking place July 25-28), and the Massachusetts Little League Volunteer of the Year award that will be presented at Fenway Park later this year.

Official Chartered Little leagues are eligible to apply for Foundation sponsorship and are encouraged to nominate a worthy member of their program for the Massachusetts Litltle League Volunteer of the Year
