An official Prince George’s County Boys and Girls Club (PGCBGC) Roster Form must be submitted for each team entered in any PGCBGC sport. Rosters are to be signed by the unit club president, athletic director, or sport commissioner. It is the responsibility of each coach to check with the PGCBGC office to ascertain that each player on his/her roster is eligible for competition. Eligibility requirements include
- Membership application on file with PGCBGC
- Dues paid to PGCBGC
- Age verified by PGCBGC
- Has a sanctioned, picture PGCBGC laminated ID Card
- Weighed in (football only) and met his/her required weight
Any player that does not meet these requirements should be removed from the roster. Please check Section VIII of the Ground Rules for additional information.
NOTE: A WEEK PRIOR TO PLAYOFFS, COACHES MUST OBTAIN CURRENT COPY OF THEIR OFFICIAL ROSTER TO HAVE PRESENT AT GAME.
Roster Check:
Take time to eliminate roster problems before it is submitted by performing a simple roster check:
- Verify player names with their birth certificates which should also be submitted for new players No nicknames on
roster
- Barcodes are provided for returning players
- Dues are paid
To expedite the registration process, it is recommended that all Club affiliates turn in all Membership information at one time. Once a player is cleared, he/she will be issued a yellow picture PGCBGC laminated ID card and placed on the official PGCBGC roster. However, it is still strongly recommended that prior to the first game coaches check their rosters in person at the PGCBGC office. Please call 301-446-6800 for an appointment.
All coaches are reminded that they are responsible for the conduct of their players. Improper conduct in the judgment of the game officials or field supervisors, on the part of any player, coach, or spectator may result in penalization, expulsion, suspension, or forfeiture of the game. The coach is responsible for the conduct of his team prior to, during and after a game.
Code of Conduct Letter:
- If a disturbance or fight between players breaks out on the field or court, NO ONE – INCLUDING THE COACHES, TEAM ASSISTANTS, CHAIN-GANG nor PLAYERS will come onto the field or court to assist. The players on the field or court should restrain their teammates and the officials will disqualify players as needed. If coaches, team assistants, substitute players, etc come onto the field or court, they will be ejected from the game and suspended from the next scheduled game or permanently from the Prince George’s County Boys and Girls Club (PGCBGC).
- At no time will an opposing coach make contact with an opposing player or coach. This policy is of special concern when a disturbance breaks out on the field or court and the coach rushes out on the field to break it up. The spectators do not know who the coach is and only see someone running on to the field or court and they think they should do the same. Once a parent sees a coach grab an opposing player then the parent is ready to escalate the disturbance for touching his/her child. Therefore, coaches are forbidden from running on to the field or court, except for when a time-out has been called.
- Any player who removes his/her football helmet and uses it as a weapon will be suspended indefinitely.
- There is no reason for a coach or anyone else to approach an official after the game has ended. If a coach is dissatisfied with the officiating then they should fill out an Official Evaluation Form, have it signed by their Commissioner or Club President, then submit it to the county for evaluation. The official’s name is not required. Just a brief description of the official, date of the game, location where the game was played and the time is all that is needed. The county working with the officiating organization can find out the name of the official involved. Please remember – Judgment calls can not be protested.
- Only authorized personnel with county issued ID badges are allowed to be on the field (with the team in front of the restraining ropes) or on the basketball court.
