The Grind vs Roughriders Game Wednesday June 2, 2021
The Pacific Shore League began their summer league today with a match up against The Grind and The Roughriders. The first inning for both sides was exciting as both teams scored a run. In the top of the first inning The Grind’s left fielder Micha Wiggs scored from the single by Andres Contreras. For the Roughriders their lead off second baseman Alonzo Duranzo scored by stealing home plate. In the second inning, the Grind scored two more runs. Both runs were scored by wild pitches from the Roughriders pitcher Angel Garcia. The score remained 3-1 until the bottom of the 4th inning where the Roughriders got a run back making it a one run game. Ben Williams, the Roughriders third baseman scored the run. He led off the fourth inning with a single and scored the run by stealing home. In the top of the 5th inning, the Grind scored big making the game 5-2. Connor Bell scored on a single from Zak Farris and with his fast wheels he made it safely home. Andres Contreras scored the other run in that inning on a wild pitch. In the 6th inning the Grind scored 2 more runs. Making the score 7-2 Adrian Vallejo scored the run on a single from Adrian “Junior” Hinojosa. Hinojosa scored on three consecutive hits. He touched home plate on an error by the Roughriders center fielder Al Blake Jr. In the bottom of the 7th inning the Roughriders bounced back and scored 3 runs. Danny Moreno scored on a throwing error by the Grind’s catcher. Andradex scored on two back to back walks. Alec Rosas scored as well on three back to back walks. The game was suspended due to darkness at the facilities. The game ended with a score of 7-5 with the Grind in the lead.
