Program Descriptions

High School Practice

High School practices are for high school wrestlers who we will work with individually to help them reach their full potential. This practice will be a high level practice focusing on technique, position, situations, hard wrestling and mental training. Wrestlers training in this practice are doing so with the intent of wrestling beyond high school. Our goal as a coaching staff is to help these athletes reach their individual goals and get them striving for bigger loftier goals. This will be done through belief, discipline, hard work, sacrifice and a commitment to excellence.

Note- We do allow 7th and 8th graders into our High School program, but they must be mature enough to handle High School type practices and should be in a situation that if they were in high school, they would be in a position to make it to the HS State Tournament and place at High School state. We reserve the right to refuse a wrestler who is not prepared for our program.

Youth Practice

Youth practice is for younger wrestlers 8th grade and younger who seek high quality technique and training in a fun atmosphere. It is very important at the youth level that the athlete is enjoying practice and the work they are putting into the sport. These sessions will provide new techniques and drills that are used at the highest levels of wrestling but will also focus on baseline techniques that have proven to win time and time again. Youth practices will include technique, hard wrestling, conditioning, goal setting and mental training. Practices will be ran by coaches Kevin Keeney, Brett Sanchez, Devin Reynolds, Devin Poppen, TJ Callaway, and Dustin Marchello.

West Linn Mat Club (WLMC)

West Linn Mat Club is for the young new wrestlers to the sport. Most participants in the WLMC are 9 years old and younger. This program is a fun, relaxed, and engaging practice that introduces the basics of the sport through games, drills, and competitions. Ran by Head Coach Kevin Keeney along with West Linn High School Wrestlers Colby Daly and World Champion Destiny Rodriguez, WLMC is a great place to start the sport of wrestling.

If my child needs medical attention, it is my wish that the treatment be started while efforts are being made to contact me. So that treatment is not delayed, I consent to any medical procedures the physician believes are needed with the understanding that efforts to contact me will continue to be made. I accept responsibility for all the costs related to such treatment.

* Parent Code of Conduct: Parents will act as positive role models, and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all wrestlers, coaches, officials, parents, on social media and with other spectators, at all practices, exhibitions, dual meets, tournaments, and other All-Phase sanctioned events.

* Communicable Skin Issues: Report any skin issues with a coach immediately if one should occur. Parents and wrestlers are to police skin issues themselves and not practice if they have any form of a skin infection. If a coach has a concern, they will ask that wrestler not to participate and get the concern checked out. Coaches will always err on the side of caution.
