REGISTRATION CLOSING 3/23!!

There are only a few days left for registration for the 2018 season. The deadline is 3/23/2018. Please get your kids registered as soon as possible. Immediately after the registration deadline VGS can begin identifying team numbers, naming coaches, ordering jerseys and placing kids on the proper teams. Practices will be allowed to start on 4/1/2018 so you should hear from a coach during the week of the 26th.

If you are looking for your child to play up a division (8 year old in minors / 10 year old in majors), you need to contact me during one of our winter workouts or email me back (Respond to this email or shaunsmacnamee@yahoo.com). We have been performing evaluations all ready using coach history and winter workout play but many kids who are registered have not come to winter workouts. As an FYI – we will only be moving very advanced kids up. The intent of the league is to keep kids in the age brackets they belong so they can focus on developing the fundamentals that will make them successful as they grow.

We are also looking for kids who want to learn more pitching, especially in the ages of 8-10. We are providing some specific pitching drills at the Winter Workouts but are looking to expand this with more formal training as we move into April. Please contact me directly if interested.

Welcome to 2018 Vestal Girls Softball season! Registration is now open. You can register through the registration link on the website www.vestalgirlssoftball.com.

We have changed the cost structure for 2018. We reduced the cost of AAA (8u) from $100 to $50. We also reduced the Minors, Majors and Teener League costs from $100 to $75.

• AAA (8u) 5-8 years old
• Minors 9-10 years old
• Majors 11-12 years old
• Teeners 13+

Any player who wishes to “play up” will have to go through a more stringent evaluation process. Any 8 year olds who wish to play minors, 10 year olds who wish to play majors or 12 year olds who play teeners will have to be approved by a Players Evaluation Committee consisting of the league President, Vice-President, Director of Player Development and specific league coordinators. This will be an ongoing evaluation process utilizing our ongoing Winter Workout sessions and coaching knowledge of past player history. The intent will be to get back to focusing on building proper fundamentals starting at the AAA level and driving a more competitive Minors and Majors division by keeping proper ages focused within their leagues and moving kids up only when they have mastered the proper skills required to compete at the next level.

Our Winter Workouts are in full swing at The Edge in Vestal. AAA is from 5-6PM and Minors, Majors and Teeners 5—7PM. The cost is 5$ per kid and will be payable at The Edge prior to the workout time. We look forward to seeing you there. Please pass this along and bring a friend who you think may be interested in 2018 Rec Softball.

We are looking for volunteers! We need coaches, assistant coaches, team managers and general volunteers at all levels. Please make sure to check these options while registering and fill out a Coaching Letter of Intent form on our website

Hello and Happy New Year from your VGS League Board! You are receiving this email as a previously registered participant of our league. We would like to welcome you to the start of the 2018 season and give you some information and links to help get your girls started this year.

VGS had updated our webpage. We have selected an updated package that you can access via www.vestalgirlssoftball.com. Our league and coaches will be utilizing this site for a more interactive experience for our participants this year. Please log into the site create a registration name and password if you have not previously. You can then search for the Vestal Girls Softball League and join. This site does include a mobile app that you can download through the App Store on your phone. (Search for the Team Pages App and log in via your registered name and password.)

Registration is now open. You can register through the registration link on the website.

While we are no longer tying the ticket sale fundraiser to registration, it will still be a requirement as a fundraiser once we get the season rolling. This is our only “sale” fundraiser. All fundraisers will be coordinated and run more at the team level with more information to come as we get going. When registering also please note. We are going to become more firm with our recommended age policies for each league.

VGS is putting an emphasis on developing pitchers! We are bringing youth trainers onto the Winter Workout staff to start building pitching skills for our Minors and Majors divisions. At 6pm during our Workouts we will break off a group to develop pitching. Please notify your trainers that you are interested. Players will need to provide a person to catch them during the training. We may have some catchers available but this is not a guarantee.

VGS will be hosting a Spaghetti dinner fundraiser at The Elks on Thursday April 12th. Last year’s dinner was a huge success with good food, lots a prizes and a tremendous amount of fun had by all. This is one of our primary fundraisers. More information will be coming shortly but please reach out ASAP to volunteer or to sign up to submit a prize basket.
