This two week camp is designed for students, ages 13-19, who are excited to be immersed in the World of Musical Theatre while rehearsing and performing the hit Broadway Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Students will participate in musical theatre dance, acting, music, and vocal sessions to prepare for the final performance in the state of the art Dr. Thomas L. Marcy Theatre in the Cypress Center for the Arts. This program will include audition workshops, ensemble and solo work, scene study, and character analysis while creating a full staged production. Actors will have their headshots taken, resume built, and more during these two incredible weeks. Come join us to explore, create, and collaborate all that is Musical Theatre in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a wildly funny and touching musical about an eclectic group of students who vie for the Spelling Bee Championship. The book by Rachel Sheinkin and score by William Finn candidly discloses hilarious and touching stories from the home lives of the contestants. The tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Spellers enter; spellers leave! At least the losers get a juice box.

Congratulations, Micaela!

1st Grade Artist, Camden Small, proudly shares his first practice self-portrait with the final version that he is currently working on.  Camden says he loves to draw, even outside of class, and that he’s REALLY enjoying working on our self-portraits right now!  Please note that Camden had removed his mask for the photo (to demonstrate the self-portrait) and placed it back on immediately after the photo.  Nicely done, Camden!
