Hello Everyone,
Now that the weather has finally warmed up, the spring outdoor season is almost upon us. The Astros Field Hockey Club is thrilled to hold its first annual Junior Preseason Field Hockey Boot Camp.
The boot camp will be held in the North Dome at the VIPER DOME (you can also Google “Absolute Baseball Academy”). Dates for the sessions will be April 3rd, 5th, and 10th from 7pm – 9pm. So far, we have 28 athletes registered; some may only be available for a couple of sessions due to spring break. There are a number of Astros Club members who will be helping to coach.
We will be breaking the sessions according to age and skill level and then rotating the athletes through different skills stations.
-
NEW – as the title implies, this will be athletes who are brand-new to field hockey
-
LEARN – for our youngest group who have at least one season under their belts
-
PRACTICE – for our intermediate age and skill group
-
PER-FECT – for our oldest age group and/or athletes who can perform basic skills consistently and with less instruction
For athletes who are attending 2 – 3 sessions, we may move them from one group to another so that they get the appropriate level of coaching and the most out of their boot camp!
PARENTS
- If you have not yet paid, please e-Transfer the registration fee to “astrosfh@telusplanet.net” and use “name of club” and “astros” as the question and answer. Alternatively, you may bring a cheque payable to “Astros Club” to the first session.
ATHLETES
- You will need to wear shorts and T-shirt, plus running shoes, socks, and shinguards.
- You will also need a mouthguard.
- If you have your own stick, please bring it. If you do not yet have a stick, you may contact the Field Hockey Alberta office (403) 670-0018 to arrange to borrow one for the spring season; we may have a few extra sticks available.
COACHES
- Please update your ATTENDANCE on the tab with that label so that we know which coaches are available for each session. We will have sheets with information on skills and drills for each of the stations.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
