Chapin Qualifies Wrestlers from Every Weight Class
for Upper State Tournament

On January 30, the Chapin Eagles wrestled tenaciously and qualified wrestlers from all 14 weight classifications for the Upper State Individual Tournament. Seven Eagles finished first: Noel Hurley, Dylan Whitcomb, Cole Hodges, Taylor Cabe, A.J. Spearman, Nick Edenfield, and Hank Manos. Second Place finishers were Paul Collingwood, Kyle Nichols, and Cole Haile. Sam LaRosa and Matthew Hutton finished third and Jake Watson and Grant Frick finished fourth. The Upper State tournament will include the 16 top wrestlers from 4 regions and will be a significant test as the best of the upstate grapple for a berth in the State Finals. The tournament will be held in Taylors, SC at Eastside High School on February 19-20. The top four finishers will qualify for the State Finals, which will be held in Anderson, SC on February 27-28.

On Saturday, February 6, Chapin will host the first two rounds of the Team (Dual) State Tournament. Chapin will wrestle Berea in Round One at 11 a.m. If Chapin wins, they will wrestle the winner of the Palmetto-Union County match immediately following Round One. The Eagles also will recognize our Seniors prior to the competition.
