Good Evening! Congrats on a great tournament weekend in Phoenix!

This weekend, we are looking for some assistance with our Try Hockey for Free event at the Spokane Arena. As 12U-A1 is one of the few teams that is off this weekend, we would appreciate the team assisting us with check-in and on-ice help. Please wear your blue jerseys. The details can be found on the attached flyer. Please be at the Arena (through the service entrance) between 11:30-11:45 AM. Parents – if you are able to assist with bringing items from the rink to the Arena (and back), please let Neil know.

Please email Neil at neilrunbeck@gmail.com if your player cannot attend. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your service to the Association! (2 Chiefs tickets to the game that night will be provided as our thank you).

The document 2018_Try_Hockey_for_Free.pdf was attached to this post.

PLEASE PLAN TO HAVE ALL BOYS AT THE RINK TOMORROW BY 12:30pm for outside warm ups and security bag check. We are not able to enter the rink until 1 hour prior to our game so we will do outside warm ups.

Also, please read the below carefully for where to park and enter the rink:
If you are receiving this email, your team is currently scheduled to play a President’s Day Invitational game(s) here at Gila River Arena, home of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes! Due to the uniqueness of playing in this venue compared to other local rinks, there are a few logistics, guidelines, and steps to follow in order to make the experience as smooth as possible.

Where to be & When
• Gila River Arena Address: 9400 W. Maryland Ave. Glendale, AZ 85305
• Parking: The parking lots in front of the Renaissance Hotel on the West side of the arena (Lot 3 in the below link/map)
• Parking Map: http://www.westgateaz.com/files/Westgate-DualEvents-ParkingMap.pdf
• We can begin letting teams down to the locker rooms as a team 1 HOUR PRIOR to your scheduled start time, but due to a lack of space, it is recommended that any dryland warmups be done outside of the entrance prior to going down.
• Enter through GATE 3, which is located on the Northwest corner of the arena behind McFaddens Bar closest to Lot 3
• There is a security bag check (yes, this includes hockey bags), and so please factor an extra 5-10 minutes in to your travel time

Arena Guidelines
• Mandatory – All players, coaches, team managers, penalty box attendants, or anyone going on the ice MUST fill out the attached liability waiver and turn in upon arrival. Any player, coach, or staff member who does not have a waiver filled out will not be allowed on to the ice or bench until doing so.

• The attached “Arena Guidelines” document is for you, the coach or team manager, and your parents to review so that you are aware of all arena rules
• Due to arena security protocols, all family, friends, etc. who wish to watch the game are asked to please remain in the two center ice sections (111, 112).Outside food and drinks (non-alcoholic) are allowed in the arena.
• Due to both security measures and space in the locker rooms, we ask that only essential personnel go down to the locker rooms with the players. This means coaches and team managers only. Younger teams are allowed to bring a small number of parents to help with skates/equipment.

Dining, Shopping, & Entertainment Options
• For those wishing to arrive early or do something after the game, Westgate Entertainment District & Tanger Outlets right outside the arena offer numerous options
• Westgate: http://www.westgateaz.com/
• Tanger Outlets: http://www.tangeroutlet.com/glendale
• For those wishing to come to an NHL game on Thursday the 15th vs. Montreal or Saturday the 17th vs. Edmonton, you can order through me

Should you or any of your families have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Playing on NHL ice is a once in a lifetime experience for many of these kids and we are proud to work closely with this first-class tournament to be able to provide this unique benefit to your team. I look forward to seeing all of you here in a few weeks and have a great rest of your day!
