Spring Season Schedule

Posted by Matthew Gonzales at Mar 27, 2020 6:29AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hello everyone,

You may have received an alert regarding an event for your team being cancelled. I have removed all games that were not played from the schedule.

We are currently rewriting game schedules to reflect dates when the season continues. I do not have information regarding the start date.

COACHES, please make sure you have entered game results for games you have played this season. There are a couple of teams that have no data entered for their game played. If you need assistance, please email me at mgonzales3649@gmail.com.

For anyone having schedule related questions, reply to this thread or email me. Our league will provide updates as they become available regarding start dates moving forward.

Good Evening All,

As many have already seen, Little League International has released an update that follows the most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With that, we will be delaying the Spring season until early May, with more updates to come as we get closer.

I know at this point there are many questions coming up about season length, number of games, allstars, etc. I assure you that we are working through all those same questions internally and will post updates as soon as possible. Today I requested our website company to clear all the currently loaded schedules, and will be uploading a new revised schedule as we set the dates. Of course there will have to be some modifications with a shortened season, but I believe we can get everyone a fair amount of games considering the circumstances. We will take advantage of every possible game slot and get teams as many games as possible, likely playing regular season into early June.

I encourage everyone to keep working with their kids at home in anticipation of getting to start back up, and wish everybody good health in these tough times. It’s like they have said, “we’ll never know if we overreacted, but we will know if we didn’t do enough.”

Below is the most up-to-date message from Little League International

Best,
Fernando

UPDATE AS OF MARCH 16, 2020:

This is much bigger than Little League®.

The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic is rapidly changing the way that we, as global citizens, think, act, gather, learn, and live our daily lives. And, yes, that also means how we play Little League.

With the most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Little League International Board of Directors and staff is now strongly advising all its local Little League programs to suspend/delay their Little League seasons through no earlier than Monday, May 11. We implore you to follow this recommendation and suspend all Little League activities through no earlier than May 11.

We recognize that this is the heart of the traditional Little League season, and we share in the great disappointment that many are feeling surrounding this additional pause in the 2020 season. However, it is our hope that by doing this, we will all play a small, but important part in flattening the curve in the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

We will continue to consult with appropriate medical advisors, government health officials and our volunteer leaders around the world, and we are committed to doing the best we can for the safety and well-being of our players, families, volunteers, and fans.

As this situation evolves, Little League International is committed to sharing the best guidance possible for all of our 6,500 leagues in more than 84 countries. It is our sincere hope that we can find ways to bring everyone back to the Little League fields this season, whether that’s later this spring or throughout the summer.

Currently, Little League International is working through all possible scenarios for the 2020 Little League International Tournament and tournament eligibility for our leagues and players in our various divisions of play.

Little League will continue to provide additional guidance on the impact of delaying the season and has developed a series of FAQs available at LittleLeague.org/Coronavirus. We are committed to sharing information as it becomes available on issues like player eligibility and tournament participation, charter and insurance status for the year, and A Safety Awareness Program plan deadlines.

We also will be sharing guidance on how to resume operations when appropriate, best practices for handling the financial implications, and how you can communicate with parents and families in your communities about this delay in Little League activity. This information will continue to be developed and shared on LittleLeague.org/Coronavirus and through all of our communications methods.

There are countless resources available, and we urge you to follow the information available through World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), your state’s public health department (click here for a listing of state public health departments), and other county and/or local authorities including precedents set by area school districts and government agencies.

We encourage you to stay in touch with Little League and share any additional feedback or questions from your local communities by emailing SeasonUpdate@LittleLeague.org.

Thank you all for your support, understanding, and community leadership.

We will be thinking of our global Little League community during this difficult time.

UPDATE FROM LITTLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL

Posted by Fernando Martinez at Mar 12, 2020 3:25PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear GHLL Families,

I know many of you just received a message from me regarding a suspension of our season, however in the few moments since then we have received additional guidance from Little League International. I have attached a copy of the President’s email below.

Following the guidance, ALL LITTLE LEAGUE ACTIVITIES ARE TO BE SUSPENDED UNTIL APRIL 6TH. This includes practices, games, and any type of meetings. This is very fluid situation, and I will post updates through the website, via email, and our social media pages regularly.

I know this affects many, and I want you to be assured we will do everything possible to ensure that all players meet their allstar eligibility before the tournament seasons begin.

I appreciate you understanding, and wish you good health. Looking forward to seeing everyone back out there April 6th. Pictures scheduled for April 4th will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Best,
Fernando

Little League Baseball and Softball

Dear Little League Volunteers,

As information continues to become available regarding the increasing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to provide you, our leagues and district administrators, with additional guidance on the implementation of the Little League® program in your local communities.

Little League International operates more than 6,500 programs in more than 84 countries, and therefore, we recommend that our leagues exercise an abundance of caution and implement a temporary suspension of all league activities until no earlier than April 6.

While each community is being affected differently by the coronavirus, the Little League International Board of Directors and staff feel that it is in the best interest of our volunteers and participant families to delay the implementation of the Little League season to begin no earlier April 6. If your league chooses to continue to operate in its local community, then we strongly encourage you to seek the counsel of your community municipalities, public health departments, and local school districts.

For those leagues that have already begun their seasons, we kindly ask that you postpone all league activity that may involve the gathering of individuals for games, practices, events, or meetings. If you have not started your season, we kindly ask that you modify your schedule and season plans to start no earlier than April 6.

Should Little League determine that the recommended delay of the season will extend past April 6, we will provide timely notification and information regarding the impact of such a delay.

We are committed to communicating with you on a consistent basis, providing you with additional information and best practices to work through the coronavirus pandemic. Please look for our official communication via email, on our website (LittleLeague.org/Coronavirus), and on social media (@LittleLeague).

Over the course of the next few weeks, Little League will continue to provide additional guidance on the impact of delaying the season on player eligibility and tournament participation, charter and insurance status for the year, A Safety Awareness Program plan deadlines, and guidance for communicating with parents and families in your communities. At this time, no decision has been made regarding delaying the start of the Little League International Tournament, however, it is our hope that Little League seasons can continue uninterrupted after April 6.

Based on Little League International’s recommendation that you suspend your season until April 6, Little League will be considerate of the missed game play opportunities as we establish a new policy for tournament eligibility for the 2020 tournament season. It is our hope to alleviate any concerns of the impact of the situation on the tournament season and that your league and its families can focus on the health and well-being of your community at this time.

We will continue to work with our medical advisors as we closely monitor the situation, and we are advising all our leagues and families to follow the guidelines set by the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), your state’s public health department (click here for a listing of state public health departments ), and other county and/or local authorities including precedents set by area school districts and government agencies.

We encourage you to share this information with parents and membership of your league to ensure they are up-to-date and informed.

As the situation continues to develop, Little League International will do our best to continue to keep our leagues, volunteers, and families informed. We encourage you to stay in touch with Little League and share any additional feedback or questions from your local communities by emailing SeasonUpdate@LittleLeague.org.

We will be thinking of our global Little League community during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Stephen D. Keener

Spring Season Suspended Until March 30th

Posted by Fernando Martinez at Mar 12, 2020 2:18PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear GHLL Families,

Following calls with our Little League District Administrators, City and County Health Officials, and the GHLL Executive Board, I have decided to suspend scheduled games for the Spring 2020 season until at least March 30th.

This decision was not made lightly, however out of an abundance of caution we all agree that a suspension of at least two weeks is in the best interest of our players, our families and the community.

Opening day activities scheduled for March 21st have been canceled, and we have rescheduled team pictures for Saturday April 4th. We will continue monitoring and evaluating ongoing local events up to the re-start of the Spring season. At this current time, we are allowing teams to continue practicing on their own, however this excludes any types of scrimmages, games, or joint practices. Our focus is to minimize the size of group gatherings, and ask that parents follow all CDC guidance on practicing social distancing to the maximum extent possible, staying home with any signs of illness, and washing hands as often as possible.

We have room in the schedule for unexpected events such as this. At this time, I fully expect that no games will need to be “canceled”, but instead will be rescheduled. A revised schedule will be posted online as soon as possible.

Our highest priority is the health and safety of our players, our families, and our community.

Thank you for understanding,
Fernando

Thank you all or your patience in regards to publishing the schedules. As of Now, games that are schedule through March have been reviewed, and corrected from any errors. You may know use MARCH ONLY as a schedule for games.

PARENTS, if you happen to come across what you believe to be an error (Such as a game scheduled on a Sunday, or scheduled at 2 AM instead of 2 PM) please see your Head Coach.

COACHES, If you see issues with your schedule, please see your division VP.

I anticipate TeamPages implementing an update on their side of the website by this weekend. Once that has been completed, they should be uploading the rest of the schedules.
