Maine District Three Umpire Uniforms

Posted by Robert Curtis at May 21, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Maine district three's official color is black umpire shirts and gray pants. We also  assign uniform numbers to umpires. To request a number, please e-mail us at d3umpires@gmail.com with a list of three acceptable uniform numbers (please list most wanted numbers first). Numbers will be assigned first come first serve. Please wait to get an e-mail confirming what number you've been assigned by me before you order a shirt. Just because the list says a number has not been taken doesn't mean it's available.

Other shirt colors are acceptable as long as the all members of the crew are wearing the same color. The colors may include: Powder Blue, Red, Cream, White, Navy Blue and Pink (Cancer awareness).

State-wide the official shirt color is still navy blue. If you're umpiring outside of district three or umpiring a state tournament, you'll need to have a navy shirt. For all games at the District level or higher, an Approved Little League Umpire patch should be on the left sleeve.

other required Uniform items include:

Gray Pants, Black Shoes, Black/Navy Socks, Black Belt, Umpire Hat

If working the plate a gray, navy or black ball bag

Protective Equipment is REQUIRED to be worn by the plate umpire by the Little League Baseball/Softball rule book.

Required equipment:

Face Mask

Chest Protector

Shin Guards

Protective Cup (Male Umpires)

Some local leagues will provide umpires with equipment to use during regular season play (each umpire will have to provide their own protective cup). If you are interested in umpiring district play or higher you'll need to provide your own equipment and uniforms.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us: d3umpires@gmail.com

About the MD3LLUA

Posted by Robert Curtis at May 21, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

In May of 2005 we announced the formation of the District Three Little League Umpires Association.

The goal of this association is to promote umpiring by working to recruit and retain umpires, gain consistency in umpiring by education and training of members, work for a better relationship between umpires and local leagues, teams and the general public and become a resource for local leagues.

The association was formed to help stem the growing problem that is happening not only in Little League but sports in general all over the country, the lack off game officials.

The frame work of the association was formed based off other Little League umpire associations in other states and fine tuned to meet the needs here in district 3.
