I got to work the US Championship on Saturday night. I had the Right Field Line. Wasn't much of a game. California came to life and blew away Texas in a rematch 12-2.  After the game, Sunday's assignments were handed out. I got today off, so I will be headed back to Maine with a great expierence in hand.  From Wednesday on there were only 2 games a day and only 12 umpires a day needed. So, out of 16 that means four get the day off. I hadn't had a day off during that time frame, so I kinda saw this coming. This was a great expierence, one I will never forget. I will write summary of some of the things I left out when I get home. THANK YOU for all the support.

What a wild one last night.  West vs Southeast.  This game had it all. Southeast jumped out to a 1-0 lead. West comes back with 5 in bottom of the 3rd inning.  Now it is 5-1.  Southeast puts up 9 in top of 4th inning. Can you say 10-5 game over. Wrong!! West chips away at it and after 5 complete, it is now 10-10.  I had a big caught stealing play at third in the 5th inning. Next pitch, home run. Would have been 11-10 West.  Now we go to sixth, nothing in top, West scores on a past ball in bottom half, game over.

US Championship game, 3:00 pm  ABC   Right Field Line

Just got back from Little League's annual awards breakfast.  This guys know how to keep things short and sweat, one hour exactly.  Good food and the MC, Gary Thorne didn't tell any war stories.  Last night I got to work 2nd Base in the US Semi final between Texas (Southwest) and New York (Mid Atlantic).  Great game, Texas got to New York for four runs in the first two innings.  New York could not buy a break, four double plays with runners in scoring position.  Texas now will play the winner of the Georgia vs California game. I have 3rd Base in that one, tonight at 8 pm on ESPN.
