It was great timing for our team to play in a tourney so close to home. However, our first two games were played as if we were all still home in bed. Not to take anything away from our opponents, but the Bombers seemed to play just hard enough to beat both teams with a 4-2 win against the CT Renegades and a 7-4 win against X-treme Chaos. Up next was a strong instate rival, the CT Hornets. With a timely 3 run homer in the 2nd inning and dominating pitching the game was never in doubt. Winning 6-2 and propelling the Bombers to the #2 seed just behind the CT Mirage which gave up one few runs than us.Sunday brought familiar foes, CT Renegades and CT Eliminators Red. Both games produce similar results as the Bombers Black cruised to 6-0 and 9-1 victories, respectively. The Finals brought a rematch with the CT Hornets. This time the game would be a seesaw battle between two determined teams. After trailing 1-0 after 3 innings, our offense kicked into gear and took a 6-1 lead going into the 7th inning. However, the Hornets would not go down quietly, closing the score to 6-4 and as they attempted to make the score even closer the Bombers’ outfield threw the final out at the plate to capture our 4th Title of the 2009 season and running our totals to 4 Championships, one 2nd place and two 3rd place finishes. A MOST impressive start to a great year!
