Every point scored is vital to the sucess of the TEAM. Marist edged New Trier High School in the Sophomore division on February 9 by a mere 2 points at the Evanston Indoor Classic! 

 On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, the Marist Sophomore Boys traveled to Lyons Township High School for a classic dual meet. 

 Individual events were scored on the following point scale: 5-3-1. 

 Relays were scored on the following point scale: 5-0.

 Marist won the Varsity divsion by a score of 70 to 61. Lyons Township won the Sophomore division by a score of 107 to 25.

 Marist athletes that scored in the SOPHOMORE division included:

 Freshman Jake Phillips finished in SECOND place in the 3200m run with a personal best time of 11:48.4. Freshman Gavin Carey finished in THIRD place in the 3200m run with a personal best time of 13:03.60.

 Sophomore Nick Coccaro finished in FIRST place in the 55m dash with an outstanding time of 7.10. Freshman Sam McNamara finished in THIRD place to complete the scoring in the 55m dash with an outstanding time of 7.30.

 Sophomore Nick Vallie finished in THIRD place in the 800m run with a personal best time of 2:28.90.

 Sophomore Josiah Harris finished in SECOND place in the 55m High Hurdles with an official time of 10.5. Josiah Harris WON the 55m Low Hurdles with an official time of 9.8. Josiah Harris also finished in THIRD place in the Triple Jump with a jump of 36'5.75.

 Freshman Michael Golden, Sam McNamara, Kyle Quinn, and Brendan Geary WON the Sophomore 4x400m Relay with an official time of 4:15.2. Lyons Township finished in second place with an official time of 4:16.6.

 Marist will travel to Joliet for the Sophomore Indoor Championships on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.

 In the Varsity Pole Vault, Lyons Gatson won it with a vault of 12'0. Lyons Movinger finished in second place with a vault of 11'6. Lyons Pignotti and Abrahams tied for third place to complete the scoring with vaults of 8'0.

 After the Pole Vault, the score was Lyons 9, Marist 0. 

 In the Varsity High Jump, Lyons Kelly won it with a leap of 5'5. Marist Sophomore Carter Auer finished in SECOND place with a personal best jump of 5'5. Lyons Ganzel finished in third place to complete the scoring with a jump of 5'5. Ties were broken by total misses during the competition. 

 After the High Jump, the score was Lyons 15, Marist 3.

 In the Varsity Long Jump, Lyons Morlocke won it with a jump of 19'6.5. Marist Sophomore Jamari Grant finished in SECOND place with a jump of 18'2. Lyons Abrahanson finished in third place to complete the scoring with a jump of 17'2. 

 After the Long Jump, the score was Lyons 21, Marist 6.

 In the Varsity Triple Jump, Marist Sophomore Jamari Grant won it with a personal best triple jump of 40'0. Marist Senior Tom Johnson finished in SECOND place with an outstanding triple jump of 38'10.5. Marist Sophomore Carter Auer finished in THIRD place with a triple jump of 35'1. Lyons Janicki finished in fourth place with a triple jump of 33'10.

 After the Triple Jump, the score was Lyons 21, Marist 15. 

 In the Varsity Shot Put, Marist Senior Kendric Nowling won it with a throw of 42'0. Lyons DeMarco finished in second place with a throw of 41'1. Lyons Kelly finished in third place to complete the scoring with a throw of 40'0. 

 After the Shot Put, the score was Lyons 25, Marist 20.

 In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, Lyons won it with an official time of 9:16.0. Marist scratched due to the absence of Senior Lucas Pennix.

 After the 4x800m, the score was Lyons 30, Marist 20.

 In the Varsity 3200m run, Marist Freshman Andrew Kerlin won it with an official time of 10:37.2. Lyons Mathis finished in second place with an official time of 10:40.8. Lyons Seigel finished in third place to complete the scoring with an official time of 10:41.2.

 After the 3200m, the score was Lyons 34, Marist 25.

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles, Marist Senior Tom Johnson won it with a personal best time of 8.90. Lyons Hurd finished in second place with an official time of 9.3. 

 After the 55m High Hurdles, the score was Lyons 37, Marist 30.

 In the Varsity 55m Dash, Marist Sophomore Jovan Marsh won it with a personal best time of 6.60. Marist Junior Brian Ferguson finished in SECOND place with an official time of 6.70. Marist Junior Kivonte Houston finished in THIRD place to complete the scoring with an official time of 6.90. Lyons Ganzel tied for fourth place with Marist Junior Antoine Davis with an official time of 7.0.

 After the 55m dash, the score was Marist 39, Lyons 37

 In the Varsity 800m run, Lyons Kelly won it with an official time of 2:19.2. Lyons Solfis finished in second place with an official time of 2:19.3. Lyons Hart finished in third place to complete the scoring with an official time of 2:23.5.

 After the 800m run, the score was Lyons 46, Marist 39.

 In the Varsity 4x160m Relay, Marist Sophomore Jovan Marsh, Senior Kendric Nowling, Junior Antoine Davis, and Junior Brian Ferguson WON it with an official time of 1:17.40. Lyons finished in second place with an official time of 1:22.50.

 After the 4x160m relay, the score was Lyons 46, Marist 44.

 In the Varsity 400m dash, Marist Junior Anthony Johnson WON it with an official time of 59.3. Lyons Miklosz finished in second place with an official time of 59.6 Lyons NG finished in third place to complete the scoring with an official time of 63.3.

 After the 400m dash, the score was Lyons 50, Marist 49.

 In the Varsity 55m Low Hurdles, Marist Senior Tom Johnson WON it with an outstanding time of 8.5. Lyons Halon finished in second place with an official time of 9.3. Marist Sophomore Carter Auer finished in THIRD place to complete the scoring with a personal best time of 9.4. Lyons Janicki hurdled an official time of 9.7.

 After 55m Low Hurdles, the score was Marist 55, Lyons 53.

 In the Varsity 1600m, Lyons Kange won it with an official time of 5:04. Marist Senior Alexis Arreola finished in SECOND place with an official time of 5:09.9. Marist Junior Caleb Davis finished in THIRD place with an official time of 5:10.7.

 After the 1600m, the score was Marist 59, Lyons 58.

 In the Varsity 200m dash, Marist Junior Brian Ferguson WON it with an outstanding time of 24.0. Lyons Morlock finished in second place with an official time of 24.7. Marist Senior Kendric Nowling finished in THIRD place to complete the scoring with an official time of 25.3.

 After the 200m dash, the score was Marist 65, Lyons 61.

 After two hours, there was only one event remaining, the 4x400m Relay. The winner of the relay, would earn 5 points for their respective school, and win the meet.

 In the Varsity 4x400m Relay, Marist Freshman Michael Coy ran a personal best 400m split of 58.51 seconds on the first leg of the relay, and made a nice exchange to Jamari Grant. Marist Sophomore Jamari Grant ran a 400m split of 58.88 on the second leg of the relay, and made a good exchange to Andrew Kerlin. Marist Freshman Andrew Kerlin ran a personal best 400m split of 60.76 on the third leg of the relay, and made a PERFECT exchange to Jovan Marsh. Marist Sophomore Jovan Marsh came from behind to outkick the Lyons anchor with an impressive 57.73 400m split to WIN the 4x400m Relay, and the meet with an official time of 3:56.5. Lyons finished in second place with an official time of 3:56.6. 

 After the 4x400m Relay, the FINAL score was Marist 70, Lyons 61.

 The RedHawks upset the defending IHSA Sectional Champions!

 Marist will travel to the University of Illinois Armory on Saturday, March 16, 2019 for the Gene Armer "All Star" Track and Field meet.

 On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Marist Varsity Men traveled to Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Illinois for the Knights Invitational.

 The Track and Field Invitational featured Bradley-Bourbonnais, Marist, Oak Forest, Iliana Christian, Lincoln-Way West, and host Lincoln-Way Central High School.

 Lincoln Way Central won the Knights Invitational with 116 points

 The Marist RedHawks finished in SECOND place with 81 points, and posted victories over: 3. Andrew (78 points), 4. Lincoln Way West (62 points), 5. Oak Forest (52.50 points), 6. Bradley-Bourbonnais (44 points), and 7. Illiana Christian (12 points). Marist had a record of 5-1 on the day!

 Individual points were scored on the following scale: 10-8-6-4-2-1. 

 Relays were scored on the following scale: 10-8-6-4-2. 

 In the Varsity Shot Put, Senior Kendric Knowling won it with a throw of 42'0. Kendric Knowling was awarded a GOLD MEDAL for winning the Shot Put! Sophomore Josh Harris threw an outstanding 34'3.

 In the Varsity Triple Jump, Senior Tom Johnson finished in second place with a personal best triple jump of 39'2.50. Tom Johnson was awarded a SILVER MEDAL for finishing in second place!

 In the Junior Varsity Triple Jump, Sophomore Carter Auer finished in SECOND place with a personal best triple jump of 38'11.

 In the Varsity High Jump, Senior Eric Teverbaugh jumped a personal best 4'8. 

 In the Varsity Long Jump, Junior Brian Ferguson finished in FIFTH place with an outstanding jump of 18'6.5. Sophomore Jamari Grant finished in 12th place with a jump of 15'11.

 In the Junior Varsity Long Jump, Sophomore Carter Auer finished in FOURTH place with a leap of 17'9

 In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, Marist Freshman Brendan Geary (2:29.26), Junior Peter Derdzinski (2:30.26), Sophomore Tommy Kavanaugh (2:29.26), and Junior Anthony Johnson (2:37.42) finished in FIFTH place with an official time of 10:07.60. 

 In the Junior Varsity 4x800m Relay, Marist Freshman Luke Bruin (2:38.00), Freshman Jake Phillips (2:37.00), Senior Andres Castillo (2:34.00), and Nick Vallie (2:34.09) finished in FOURTH place with an official time of 10:23.60. 

 In the Varsity 3200m run, Marist Senior Lucas Pennix finished in THIRD place with an official time of 11:09.80. Lucas Pennix was awarded a BRONZE MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. Marist Junior Luke Hortsman finished in SIXTH place to complete the scoring with an official time of 11:39.50. 

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles, Marist Senior Tom Johnson finished in SIXTH place overall with a personal best time of 9.00. Marist Sophomore Josiah Harris tied for 8th place with a personal best time of 9.50. 

 In the Varsity 55m Dash, Marist Junior Brian Ferguson finished in SECOND place with an outstanding time of 6.60. Brian Ferguson was awarded a SILVER MEDAL for finishing in second place overall. Marist Freshman Tucker Miller tied for THIRD place with a personal best time of 6.70. Tucker Miller was awarded a BRONZE MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. The RedHawks scored 13 points in the 55m dash! 

 In the Varsity 800m run, Marist Freshman Andrew Kerlin finished in SIXTH place to complete the scoring with a personal best time of 2:13.30. Marist Senior Alexis Arreola finished in seventh place with a season best time of 2:14.50

 In the Varsity 4x200m Relay, Marist Sophomore Jovan Marsh, Freshman Tucker Miller, Freshman Michael Coy, and Junior Brian Ferguson finished in THIRD place with an outstanding time of 1:38.40. Jovan Marsh, Tucker Miller, Michael Coy, and Brian Ferguson were awarded BRONZE MEDALS in the 4x200m Relay. 

 In the Junior Varsity 4x200m Relay, Marist Sophomore Nick Coccaro, Senior Tom Johnson, Junior Antoine Davis, Junior Kivonte Houston WON it with an outstanding time of 1:41.70. Nick Coccaro, Tom Johnson, Antoine Davis, and Kivone Houston were awarded BLUE RIBBONS for winning the 4x200m Relay.

 In the Varsity 400m dash, Marist Sophomore Jamari Grant finished in SIXTH place to complete the scoring with an official time of 56.70. Marist Junior Anthony Johnson finished in eighth place with a personal best time of 58.40. 

 In the Varsity 1600m run, Marist Junior Thomas Leonard finished in THIRD place with an INDOOR personal best time of 4:34.00. Thomas Leonard was awarded a BRONZE MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. Marist Sophomore Kevin Bugos BROKE THE FIVE MINUTES BARRIER to finish in FIFTH place with a personal best time of 4:56.30. The RedHawks scored 8 points in the 1600m run! The five minutes barrier is the bench mark for elite high school milers. 1978 State Champion and Dyestat Illinois Reporter Michael Newman publishes an ongoing list throughout the season of all the sub five minutes runners in the State of Illinois, which now includes Marist Junior Thomas Leonard (4:34.00), Sophomore Kevin Bugos (4:56.30), and Freshman Andrew Kerlin (4:56.32).

 In the Varsity 200m dash, Marist Senior Kendric Nowling and Sophomore Jovan Marsh tied for FIRST place with an outstanding time of 24.70. Kendric Nowling and Jovan Marsh were awarded GOLD MEDALS for winning the 200m dash. The RedHawks scored 18 points in the 200m dash! 

 In the Junior Varsity 4x400m Relay, Marist Freshman Brendan Geary (61.63), Freshman Kyle Quinn (64.06), Freshman Luke Bruin (69.52), and Freshman Michael Golden (64.70) finished in sixth place with an official time of 4:19.90.

 In the Varsity 4x400m Relay, Marist Senior Alexis Arreola (56.75), Senior Lucas Pennix (62.81), Freshman Michael Coy (60.08), and Freshman Andrew Kerlin (63.89) finished in FOURTH place with an official time of 4:03.80.
