Five minutes into the game, Greenhills' Miranda Dershimer scored on a Marcia Silveira assist. But at the game's 10 and 20 minute mark, South notched a pair of goals on two defensive miscues.Ā

We are "THAT TEAM"!!!

Posted by Paul Gard at Oct 10, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Once again a tremendous team effort and "sweet" passing ruled the day as CKFH found the back of the net 6 times. The D-line of Liz Goldman, Ann Marie Skylis, Annie Damron and Catherine LaGrasso (in the second half) kept the ball out of our defensive end while Catherine LaGrasso and Candice Ammori (called up from JV) were hardly tested in goal. Our goals were scored by seniors: Katherine Park, Liz Tepe and Kira Charney, freshman: Audrey Stapleton, sophomore: Carolyn Gard and junior: Emily Eckhous. We rotated a small army of midfielders into the game beginning with starters Margot Chima, Becky Ostosh, and Jess Ritter very quickly followed by Samar Coyle, Audrey Stapleton, Liz Tepe, and Catherine LaGrasso. The forwards had MANY scoring chances on over 20 penalty corners and MANY shots on goal set up by amazing passing inside the striking circle. There were too many shots on goal to count but surely their defense was wishing that Dani Calangelo, Jess Segal, Carolyn Gard, Emily Eckhous and Becky Ostosh weren't quite so open in their defensive end. Sammie Johnson handled her sideline assignment with her usual enthusiasm - just wait until Saturday! We are.... THAT TEAM! We are.... THAT TEAM!
In a tremendous team effort the Cran-Varks shut-out the 2004 State Champ GPS team. While unable to capitalize on a number of scoring chances, CKFH proved to themselves that teamwork and hustle along with those "patented" sweet passes makes them competitive with ANY team. While the entire team rose to the challenge, rookie freshman Audrey Stapleton put on a goal-keeping clinic during the second half in just her second appearance in a Varsity game. Putting in another outstanding effort the mid-field and defensive lines prevented GPS from penetrating our defensive quarter for most of the game. Rookie junior Ann-Marie Skylis put the stop on GPS runs up their right side of the field while senior Margot Chima and sophomore Becky Ostosh put in yet another excellent performance. The forward line improved their play yet again proving that we can carry the ball up the field in heavy defensive traffic. Kira Charney, Liz Tepe, Katherine Park, Jess Segal, Carolyn Gard, Emily Eckhous and Dani Calangelo had numerous break aways and put on a thrilling show of stick to stick passing. The defensive line of Jess Ritter, Annie Damron, Liz Goldman, Samra Coyle and Ann Marie Skylis succeeded in shutting down GPS in well over a dozen penalty corners. We are "that team"... imageimage
